For me, I think I'm likely done with finasteride in general though. In my particular case of alopecia, I've since discovered methods that work better with no sexual sides. Again, take it for what it's worth.

What's your regimen, Joseph? Where do you stand on the Norwood scale?

I've always taken the Norwood scale with a grain of salt. I've also never been obsessed with my hairloss, and have never kept a journal. But my guess, I was a nw1.5 with random light diffuse thinning 5-6 years ago, which slowly progressed to a nw2 in early 2006 with advanced thinning at the crown. By that summer I had advanced to perhaps a nw2.25.

Today, I'd now say I'm now a nw1 with an almost complete juvenile hairline (more full on my right side,) with still minor thinning at the left crown.

The last year my regimen has consisted of derivations of topical mixtures. Topicals have always seemed to have best results for me. These have consisted of Inflama-Rest, caffeine, capsaicin, vitamin C, OptiMSM, melatonin, along with skin needling, and retin-a and most importantly minoxidil. I probably spend on average of around 1 hour per week. In this case, it's hard to know exactly what's working best here. But it's obvious, something is indeed working. My hair is also the healthiest it's looked in years.

I'm now considering an even stronger 5ar inhibitor especially for my crown... something like topical spironolactone or nizoral.

Skin needling? Why do you do that? Is it some kind of hardcore version of head massage?

I remember that story in Nature earlier this year about research at the University of Pennsylvania which, through wounding skin and stimulating production of wnt proteins, apparently induced follicle neogenesis in mice... seems like you're just missing the wnt stimulation bit!
