What's The Verdict On minoxidil Causing Skin Aging?

I can tell you dark circles and bags under eye s are my biggest issues with Minoxidil. I use dermapen 1 x per week and eye serum 2 x per day. I don't mind a little extra " manscaping" , worth the extra growth on scalp. wow , even the taint!
It definitely appears to cause the bags under the eyes but not everyday. The more hours I sleep the night before, the worse the under the eye bags which is largely true in general for many people, I think, even without oral minoxidil. Microneedling seems more and more powerful to me and I do the neck, face and hair, now up to twice weekly. Every two to three days would be fine it appears but it is harder to do the eye-ish area so that might be a situation where needling might be better than stamping. I have been considering a stamper but just the rollers work great and I am used to those.

Thanks for the insight,
Janey

Costs an absolute fortune and I probably won't need it as much but it sure speeds things up. I might ask my doctor about the eye area.
I know. I paid £200 for Botox and wasn’t happy with the results, the guy who was injecting was partial to a bit himself so I guessed he was adding a little too much saline to the clients and pocketing for himself. The Hyaluron pen won’t inject deep enough to cause any problems.

Never had any skin problems on topical or oral minoxidil, i think it is mostly a myth tbh. Having a good skincare regimen is always important, retin-a at night, msm, collagen supplements etc
I had damaged skin barrier and bloated face on oral minoxidil and dark circles. Shut up u cow it's not a myth. I got pictures to prove it even.

I believe that it is confirmed that it may age skin through decrease of collagen, but its effects aren't that extreme. for instance, just being out in the sun a few hours everyday probably does more damage. (thats speculation though) use some retinoids to counteract this loss of collagen and I'd think that you'll be fine
Creams won't do anything to counteract what minoxidil does. minoxidil blocks LH which is crucial for collagen production, without LH collagen can't be created in the first place even with retin A or retinol creams.

I used to sell skincare for a giant cosmetics company. Minoxidil does not cause aging. The propylene glycol is what is dehydrating your skin, not the minoxidil it’s self. You are spreading the propylene glycol from your scalp to your face and your skin is just dehydrated, likely coming from your pillow. Propylene glycol is a humectant and attracts water to its self. It is sucking the water from your skin causing preexisting wrinkles you may never even have previously noticed to worsen.

any skincare product that is mostly a glycol and alcohol is going to do this.

so why the under eyes wrinkles and overall enlarged pores? we're not applying minoxidil under our eyes

glycerin is alo an humectant and i've never add that kind of problem with skinare containing a lot of it

Under eye wrinkles creeps up on you slowly at your age, my wrinkles just sped up fast at your age, and i didnt use minoxidil back then. Just saying.

It can spread through your pillow, hand, could be coincidence. Also the thing with humectants, including glycerine, is they can draw water into and out of the skin. They can hydrate and dehydrate depending on the state of your skin barrier and the relative humidity of the air in your home. Lower humidity makes the humectant more likely to cause dehydration, higher humidity encourages moisturizing.

I’ve been using minoxidil half my life and it never caused any premature aging. But as I get older it seems like I’m aging disproportionately faster than I used to. I think that’s just what happens when we age, though. Once I turned 30 i suddenly realized I look different in the mirror than the image I think of myself as haha. In my head I’m still 20 lol

This medication is terrible for my skin. After a noticeable deterioration, I stopped taking it. Collagen production is significant for my skin. Minoxidil blocks collagen work, which leads to faster aging of the skin and the appearance of wrinkles and age spots. I take careful care of my skin condition. I use expensive care, visit a beautician, drink vitamins, and lead a healthy lifestyle. Despite this, the problem of skin aging is inevitable, regardless of the actions you take to prevent or slow down this process. I try to take a course of Xen Light Therapy several times a year to keep my skin healthy and to prevent the appearance of any skin conditions.

It def makes my skin worse and wrinkles way more pronounced. I’ve ordered Tca peel and will use 2% minoxidil to see if it negates the effects

Yeah I think that the vasodilation can make the blood vessels / capillaries more noticeable. But I can't say it actually makes skin quality worse. It's just that the water retention and discoloration can make it APPEAR worse. But again, most people just need to adjust their dosage.
