Who is your avatar? She is cute, reminds me of Ellen Page. Not me.
Do you have psychological sides from it?Currently, from my experience, only male castration works - topical spironolactone had no effect on me. i'm using oral spironolactone 100mg + estradiol valerate 2mg for 3 months now, yes i have gyno under the shirt, i would never take it off anyway because there's no chance for any sexual relations with depression from a low self esteem when losing hair. i gave up sex, i don't feel a great loss.
can't take only spironolactone and add tamoxifen against gyno - without extra female hormones i'd be in high risk of osteoporosis. (i don't even know if spironolactone works well without extra estrogen).
Lol, I don't f*****g care, I am not a Putin's property, what I am doing with my body is my own deal.Is this even legal in mother russia?
You literally spoke my mind.. I wish I had a job to afford all the medicine my stubborn follicles requireLol, I don't f*****g care, I am not a Putin's property, what I am doing with my body is my own deal.
Also I am not a mtf-trans, I identify myself as a man who just wants his hair back, that's it. I am not too obsessed over being a masculine-looking guy, moreover, some feminine traits I find very attractive and cute. Gyno removing surgery is always a possibility. Infertility (which is reversible on low dose HRT) is not a big deal for me, PIV is possible without cypro and I already stopped taking it. Now I only take Diane 35 and 100 mg spironolactone (basically, conventional treatment for FPHL); hair is regrowing and my 2 years depression and brain fog are almost gone now.
I can't tell for sure, being lonely is depressing by itself.Do you have psychological sides from it?
I was prescribed Flutamide for 8 years for a different health reason although it helped with my hair like a miracle - and I mean miraculous thick terminal hair not vellus. It only worked at the 500mg dose (BID) and boy does it get to work fast - your skin clears out within a week and hair growth may be observed at 3 months and it only gets better and better. It's powerful stuff, but controversial and anachronistic. It's believed to cause fatal hepatoxidity, but keep in mind, so is Cyproterone Acetate as far as the FDA is concerned, and the latter is the anti-androgen of choice in every other country. I never had liver trouble on the flut and I took tests every 3 months for 8 years to be certain.
The feminizing sides will catch up with you eventually (ED or low libido should not be one of them though) , and it causes reflex androgenicty which thus leaves you worse off than when you started if you try to come off. Spironolactone or Cyproterone Acetate is probably the better long term choice in terms of practicality. With that being said, I've been switched on to Spironolactone, and thus far at 5 months, I haven't had any miraculous response with either skin or hair but my labs now come back perfect without the use of dexamethasone to pull down my androgens and salts etc., which is a theoretical side effect of the drug, but most men should not experience a drop in testosterone levels without the use of estrogen. So YMMV.
Hi! Thanks for your reply. That's right - Cassodex! My doctors did throw that idea around. It's more potent so the dosage may be lowered too. I think the worry is that both cause an increase is testosterone, and I have extra androgens produced by my adrenals. spironolactone is the only medication that lowered it, but I can't say I've had much success for skin and hair yet. I added oral minoxidil 5mg to speed things up, but all that's done so far is exacerbate an already bad dread shed.Instesting. Have you ever thought of using bicalutamide. Its not nearly as hepatoxic as flutamdie
I've used Bicalutamide(orally) for more than eight months now, and it has been awesome. I take 50mg daily. The side effects are pretty nonexistent. Nothing more that mild breast tenderness, that goes away with a very low dose of Tamoxifen. But I stopped Tamoxifen recently and breast tenderness didn't come back.
I have no idea how long I'll be able to take Bicalutamide though. I'll probably consider castration and Spironolactone after a decade or two, or switch to Enzalutamide/Darolutamide/Apalutamide when it becomes available and affordable.
Also, I'm open to suggestions of any type.
I don't know since I haven't gone for any tests yet, but maybe it happened during the first three months. It pretty much happens to everyone, in my opinion, when they're on Flutamide, Nilutamide or Bicalutamide monotherapy. But, perhaps, that doesn't matter as long as they don't withdraw. The receptors are blocked after all.Did bicalutamide cause a surge in testosterone?

Besides, the extra testosterone probably gets converted to estradiol through aromatase eventually and the body gets used to it. The surge probably subsides and a stability is achieved after that.
I'm not sure though. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I once read about Glycyrrhiza Glabra/Licorice Root and it's anti-androgenic properties. It reduces nearly 40% testosterone in male humans at a particular dosage. Moreover, the side effects of Glycyrrhiza Glabra are just the opposite of those of Spironolactone. A few websites even mentioned that Spironolactone can be used to tackle the side effects of Glycyrrhiza Glabra. You are correct about blockage - but 8 years on Flutamude and I had very low estrogen, but very high t and DHT despite finasteride or dutasteride. Now on spironolactone my t is normal and DHT neglible. However spironolactone isn’t as strong!

For example,
One causes hypotension, other causes hypertension.
One causes hyperkalemia, other causes hypokalemia.
There are, obviously, many more side effects, but most of them, in my opinion, are because of electrolyte imbalance.
So, the combination of Spironolactone and Glycyrrhiza Glabra would be absolutely divine.
What's your age, by the way? And what were you prescribed Flutamide for?Fascinating. I don’t know that I want to try that just yet - but tbd. Thank you for sharing your experience! x
I’m 26 now - and I was prescribed Flut in Jan 2012 as an associate treatment for my CAH. It was to reduce a steroid dOse. It was wonderful- I never got fat, and my skin was perfect, and so much hair grew back people thought I was wearing a wig! Then I changed doctors because mine passed away, and of course the new ones were a bit horrified at the idea that I was prescribed such a potent and controversial drug. Flut is old - like you I lived in India at the time, where Flutamide is still wiiiidley prescribed in gynaecological settings, and I think 5 of my friends took it for PCOS. One had FPHL real bad, and Flut was a miracle for her too. In fact as I write this I don’t know why I ever quit : ( I guess I thought spironolactone was better? It’s not as effective for skin and hair or fast rather - but it did stabalisise my hormones without the use of dexamethasone and THAT is worth an applause! Kindly note - because of my elevated androgens, I luckily barely experienced sides like gyno until about 1-2 years in treatment and then it was a nuisance tht ebbed and flowed away on its own. XxWhat's your age, by the way? And what were you prescribed Flutamide for?
Did you see any noticeable effect on your body hair and facial hair? Can you tell me how long did Flutamide take to affect the hairs on different parts of your body and what were the effects? Count the pubic hair and underarm hair in. Also ,what do you mean by perfect skin?I’m 26 now - and I was prescribed Flut in Jan 2012 as an associate treatment for my CAH. You have no sebum so no spots ever - it did not really affect my body hair if I’m being honest. Maybe they got weaker? Maybe they never developed to their full potential since I don’t have much.
