Who is balding in your close circle?

You are not your friends, though, so don't think you're going to look like them. My stepdaughter's husband is 38, shaved head (can't tell his Norwood, but I see a lot of scalp), and he has a baby face. He looks nowhere near his age.

I made sure to stand out of Dee's sight because he always nailed people standing up front. They always started with AC/DC's "It's a Long Way to the Top"--still one of my favorite songs. Love the bagpipes. Alice Cooper was my favorite back in the '70s for a short time. That's where it all started. Some bands I really liked were Kiss, Aerosmith (saw them and Joe Perry a couple of times), Ratt, Def Leppard, Rush, Ted Nugent (saw him), Guns N' Roses (saw them). I'm having a hard time remembering it was so long ago. But the best band of all time, past and present, to me is Led Zeppelin. On Spotify I have Godsmack, Pearl Jam, some Stones (not a huge fan), Audioslave, Metallica, STP to name a few. I like Tool as well. And I'm sure you've heard that Glenn Frey passed away (with great hair). First Bowie, now him--so sad to start off 2016 losing two talented musicians. RIP to both of them.

Thank you for asking about my older son. He left for school yesterday (sob!). He's back on Propecia, which was his choice. It's scary watching your hair get thinner and thinner, so he decided to give it a go again. I worry about the sides a lot, and it's downright pathetic that in 2016 that's practically all a guy has available if he wants to try to keep his hair. I'm praying this is the year something better comes along.

Yeah, Dee has calmed down a lot over the years. He's still crazy, great, and energetic as a frontman but he really doesn't lambast fans like he used to. I just recently saw Alice Cooper open up for Motley Crue about 3 months ago and caught one of the beaded necklaces that he tossed out to the crowd. He still puts on a very good show. I'm more of an 80s rocker, into bands like Poison, Motley, Ratt, Firehouse, Warrant, etc. That's why having hair is so important to me, as I've said before. Out of the list of artists you've mentioned, I've seen Kiss (most recently up in Hartford), Ratt (about 10 times!), Def Leppard (I was 2nd row once), and the Nuge. It's cool though that you're still into all of the rockin bands. I'm sure that youthful spirit helps you relate to your son and his musical tastes.

Also, your empathy towards hair loss will help your son. If he ever needs to talk to you about it, you'll understand where he is coming from and you won't spout cliched invective like "you are not your hair" or "there are worse things, like cancer". Although I have a very wonderful family and some very good friends, some of the closest people in my life do not seem to understand what I am going through.

I feel for your son as well. No person barely out of his teens should have to lose their hair. And you really hit the nail on the head when you say that its downright pathetic that we do not have better options for hair restoration. I've said this before, but I really believe that the main practitioners in the hair restoration field (the hair transplant surgeons) do not innovate and do not want innovation because they make sure ridiculous amounts of money with their hair transplants that do not even come close to mainstream appeal. But that's a story for another time!! Hope your son does better on finasteride and I hope he doesn't experience any sides.

My best friend. Perfect hairline but diffusing badly. His grandpa was a NW7 looks like.

Funny thing is he's very good looking so he still gets tons of women. I can tell he is nervous/a bit depressed over it though.

I tried to convince him to at least try finasteride- with his hair, he could definitely thicken up and hold out for at least another 5 years I think, if not longer. But he refuses, he's worried about the sides. He said he will just shave it when it gets too bad.

Yep. My best friend is diffusing really badly too, probably a NW3 diffused now headed for 5-6. Says it bothers him but won't touch finasteride due to sides. I think most people find the prospect of ****ing with hormones/sexual function ridiculous for the sake of hair.

Their all sheep that jump on a bandwaggon as soon as they hear something negative. Without of course doing in depth research, and critically approaching the matter like an educated person would do.

I was surprised at how many sheep their actually are when I had my transplant and stayed at the rahal guest house. These were university educated guys who sounded about as dumb as they look when they spoke on their knowledge of hair loss, and other given subjects.

I realy wish I could record the conversation we had, and how they were discussing the effectiveness of laser combs, and saw palmetto

A lot of dummies I notice can't think critically.

The crazy apart about that is that we are all young, in our low 20's. When I am home from college, I am shocked by the amount of NW3-5 I see in my ~21 year old friends. The interesting part is that all my friends at home are Jewish, including myself. We all went to the same Jewish private school growing up. Leads to me believe that Jewish people have some bad balding genes because when I'm with them I thought it was normal that I was balding but when I go back to college I realize that it is not for my age.
