The "ugly duckling" phase after a transplant is pretty terrible. Lower confidence, you don't wanna go on dates, don't look photogenic, people can easily notice you had a transplant, etc.

For me the result makes it all worth it though.
Do you have pics anywhere with a buzzcut or can pm me?

How did people react if they saw you right after the procedures, with the wounding and bloodiness? That gotta be the toughest part with a hair transplant.

Also, just wondering but at what age did you reach the NW4-5 stage and when did you get the first hair transplant?

I really hope it works out for you. You seem like one of the better people on this site. It would be nice to see a regular on here with good intentions escape this misery and fly away from this board.

Unfortunately, some people like me have no solutions and can only hold onto hope. And hope can be a dangerous thing.

Statham would have no chance if he was not a movie star. He's still bald and the same rules apply. Just because somebody looks good bald does not mean that they will have a good life bald.

Thanks bro. I really hope my life will change for the better! Mainly my dating life. I want to experience true love and relationships again so badly.

Btw, can't you guys even get beard+body hair transplanted? If I was NW7 I would have made this hairline my goal

I buzzed my head before each procedure, didn't see anyone but my parents the first week or so, after that I came out with more hair than before so I started getting compliments because even with a buzzcut and obvious wounding I still had more hair every time.

After that comes the shedding and resting phase, which I consider the worst. A lot of anticipation and it feels like forever.

I was 25 when I reached the NW4-5 stage. I remember shedding hair like crazy at 23-24 already.

Looking back I wish I made an effort to treat it back then, but it was just so aggressive that I felt there wasn't anything possible that could be done so I just waited to go bald and get it done with already. My mental health was horrible back then too. I had severe BDD for years, always felt like I was ugly and there was something wrong with how I look (even with hair).

Eventually I realized that I actually look very normal and with a good hairline I could be an attractive guy and from there my mental health started improving.

Ah, I see. I used to be under the impression that the completely messed up looking part of a hair transplant used to last for months lol, but I mean that's obviously not the case. I've gotten some nasty wounds before that have basically healed up in a week or so, so some small punctures shouldn't take too long (FUT may be a different story tho). But yeah the resting and shedding phase is arguaby the worst. Some people may also develop the fear of getting a bad result and stuff, which can't be too great of a thought.

Man aggressive hair loss is the worst. At least with slow loss you ease into it but with aggressive you're screwed over in such a short period of time that it's horrifying. I'm far from bald (though without treatment I'll probably reach NW4-5 by 21-22 :( ) but it is messed up to think that only a few years ago I had a thick full head of hair.

Yeah, most people look normal. It sucks that stuff like BDD exists, which is probably just exacerbated these days. I mean I do think it is important to maintain a basic appearance that looks decent, but many people do go overboard with a lot of nitpicking with stuff that nobody really even notices. Although in the case of stuff like baldness it is in many cases better mentally for the person to fix that imo. But that is up to themselves.

I had a consultation with a well known surgeon before the lockdowns happened. They said that they could give me approx 6000 grafts combining beard and body with scalp. The hairline was higher than the one in these photos and I would need another consultation to discuss lowering it and changing the distribution of the grafts. When I showed people (NW1 people who know about my hair loss trouble), they said that the hairline looked too high. People sometimes forget that, for a NW7, a lot of grafts go into rebuilding the upper side areas. But the price was really high and I would feel a little irresponsible spending that much. I didn't think any more of it, but the procedure wouldn't be possible until after the lockdowns anyway.

Anyway, I've been turned down for transplants and dawdled for too long now. I'm old and even that won't save me; I'd need to be a proper NW1 or NW2 to be attractive at this age. I'm accepting it and going towards 'ldar'. While others are losing their money on their families, I'll be alone and saving mine. While people are putting their babies to sleep, I'll have time to keep up with my video games every evening It's not all bad. I'm bald so I'm supposed to be a loser. This is normal and I have to accept it.

f*** bro, NW7 is really horrible. I feel you and wish you could follow the same path as me. :( It took me years of trial and error but finally, I'm only a few months away from reaching that NW1-2 look which will hopefully change my life. I actually feel lucky that I'm only NW6. I mean it will never be like a real Norwood 1-2 anyway, but I want to believe that even transplanted hair will be good enough to make that difference I've been looking for. Even if it all fails, at least I will know that I tried and gave it my all.

What's the max that you would recommend that somebody pays on this stuff? In absolute numbers and as a proportion of salary. I am wondering if I was too quick to rule this thing out as too expensive. You seem so grateful and positive about life now.

As XY's are wont to do, you guys over-think everything so let me explain:

1. 95 percent of adult white men look better with hair. The other five percent are facially handsome. You are not.
2. The exception is if a guy has a Middle-Eastern fro. Then you do look supremely better bald.

It's not just the coverage. XY hair tends to be shitty hair even if it all grows in.

But here kind reader, you decide:

This is why I said nw6 was better than 7, but everyone hounded on me and said it basically made no difference. But it is true that norwood 7 affects like the top inch on the sides of your head and also it dips close into the donor region. Norwood 6 doesn't do that and it's a lot easier to get a combination of scalp, beard, and body hair to get a solid frontal density and acceptable crown density. This is not the case for norwood 7 as you at best could probably recover the hairline and frontal forelock and if you are lucky with top tier donor density some midscalp coverage. But the crown is going to be bare and your transplant results will be incomplete.

I pray every night for hair cloning or stem cell breakthroughs. Heck even better prevention treatments so at least if I somehow had a son he won't have to suffer too. I think in the year 2100 we will probably have shampoo that prevents balding and if you are susceptible you had the option starting at puberty to use it to keep hair.

Does your horseshoe really drop as low as portrayed below?
nw7.PNG

I really don't see many people at all where it stretches down that low, most "NW7s" seem to be somewhere inbetween the above and NW6, like a "NW6.5".

Low fringe looks much worse than high surrounding fringe and it is not enough for a transplant and regrowth if it gets that far, even for MtF's is probably not going to result in a full recovery. So far, it looks like people can restore about half of hair that was lost but this is just by my eyeballing transition result sites and what @bridgeburn regrew. Maybe 75 percent to 100 is possible over a long period of time.

Mine isn't far off that on the back. The sides aren't that low but the surgeons say that they should still put grafts there to be safe. See how my horseshoe almost goes down to the ear level at the back, but isn't as wide as in the image.
