When I shower I'm losing hair, when I run my hands through my hair, I lose hair. I know I probably have good hair compared to many of you, but I just don't want it to get out of hand. The recession will not stop and it has been happening pretty fast here in the last few months.
Hi DEH... welcome to the forums.
1. In the fall months most guys start to shed hair. Its the first step in the process of hair regenerating itself to come in thicker for the winter months. The whole "keep the body warmer" thing for the cold weather. Shedding is the first step in the process of regrowth. This very well may be what you're seeing.
2. It should die down in a couple months at the very most. If it does not, and you still consistently see hair all over your pillow, all over your sink, all over your hands in the shower, etc ... then you very well may be starting male pattern baldness. This happened to me when I still had a very thick head of hair, and it is because I did something about it that I have kept most of my hairline for nearly 6 years.
3. The advice given by guys to hold off on Propecia until you are undoubtedly sure you're losing your hair due to male pattern baldness is good advice. It is a hormonal modulator and you want to just chill on it until you really need it.
4. Despite what the photos show, and what the guys say, you are the only person who really knows what is going on. The first indication of male pattern baldness is that everyone around you tells you that you're NOT losing your hair, when you know you are. Conversely, the minds eye can do all kinds of things to screw with you, so be level headed and see if the shedding dies down over time. If it does, you were probably just dealing with a seasonal shed which happens even with guys NOT losing their hair.
5. The concept of a mature hairline is also a real one. A huge portion of guys who NEVER lose their hair, all go through the temple recession thing in the mid to late 20's. Its a second change of life men go through which also includes slowing metabolism and increased body hair or weight. Each guy is different, but its normal. This may never progress.
6. If you really want to do something, start using Nizoral shampoo once every 3 days. This will give you a bit of an antiandrogen kick in a topical sense, and also hold off the preliminary stages of male pattern baldness which almost always include inflammation, itching, and tingling. These are the big signs of hormone changes in your scalp that will result in hair loss. Not every guy has this, but I truly believe if you can stop this process with Nizoral (just a theory) then you can really really REALLY slow down or halt the process for awhile. Assuming you're a brand new thinner.
Good luck and remember - keep a level head and a logical, methodical view on things. This is what separates us from our beautiful fairer gender
