Diane35 is actually what Is prescribed for hairloss often, because of the cyproterone acetate and high level of estrogen. It’s supposed to be the best pill for hair.@Georgie one more thought. My wife started rapidly losing her hair, and switched her birth control to one with a less androgenic progesterone (ortho low, her previous one was alesse)
Hi, AmericanHairlines90, you said that a 100mg of spironolactone, worked on your hair like a miracle, saying that it grew back thicker than ever before. Did you see regrowth or only thicknesse from existing hair? I'm asking because I'm on 125mg. I wanna know if I'm wasting precious time. Do you think in some cases less than 150mg is enough for regrowth?
I had both! Regrowth and thickening. I wouldn’t say you’re wasting your time. I’d recommend staying on 125mg for at least 3 months and assess your hair then. I was on 100 mg daily of spironolactone for a little over a year until I increased to 200mg daily. I thought my hair was falling out again that’s why I increased my dose but at this point I really only think it was a shed. I still go through sheds every 3 months. But my hair is still growing so I know the medication is working. I don’t worry too much about the sheds because I’ve been going through these cycles for over 2 years now. Hope this helps.

Sounds too good to be true. What is your opinion on oral spironolactone vs cypro?it wont change your bone structure. possibly it can cause more fat in places like the cheeks
cypro will castrate you. If youre hairloss is not that bad or you are young, spironolactone is probably enough. it will block the receptor and maybe reduce T but the OP got tested and his T levels are still normal. And we have seen some with good results on it like this thread.Sounds too good to be true. What is your opinion on oral spironolactone vs cypro?
Oh my f*****g lord I have so much jealousy but I’m so happy for you. Before and after crown pics if you guys care.
That would be awesome, but I heard that topical spironolactone is always systemic.Perhaps this gives indication to the idea of Topical spironolactone but in a vehicle that allows it to penetrate and be as effective as oral but without the systemic side effects.
I totally feel you man I was on prosac from the beginning on 2016 to June 2017 and my boyfriend of two years ended up dumping me because he said “you changed and you don’t show affection”. He just didn’t understand that it was the price I paid being on an SSRI, and I was just trying to be “ok” rather than all over the place. It’s sad. The cost of sanity. The closest i have come to treating my depression/anxiety is being made not me.Sometimes i prefer it over the horrendous feeling of dread, and some other times i prefer the pain with more ''me'' inside it.
You know what, this may be true. In 2015 when I finally got a period back and SOME increase in hormones, by hair began shedding like crazy. It doubled. I think you could be 100% correct about being really susceptible to hairloss If you’ve gone long periods without being exposed to androgens.but for me I lost hair rapidly right after puberty in my teens and then hairloss progressed slowly after that. but then again the norwood 2 and 3 area is more sensitive generally.
Im also considering the studies on Eunuchs where the ones in their 20s given testosterone injections took years to bald while the ones in their 50s and 60s balded in a few months. the sensitivity could be caused by the longer amount of time gone without androgen exposure causes more sensitivity to the next time they are exposed.
but I could be totally wrong, it could just be caused by age.
also wonder if women are more sensitive to androgens due to normally having low amounts?
I believe that sensitivity and tolerance applies to almost everything in life. I don't see why it wouldn't apply to hormones too. maybe it doesn't apply to something extremely powerful like a snake with venom so poisonous that a single drop is enough to kill 10 grown men but there are people who have made themselves immune to other types of venomous snakes by injecting small amounts over time. So then they cant die from being bitten like other people. You know what, this may be true. In 2015 when I finally got a period back and SOME increase in hormones, by hair began shedding like crazy. If you drink alcohol regularly then you build tolerance and when you abstain too long you lose tolerance. same applies with insulin resistance and leptin resistance.
and then there are antigonadotrophins like buserelin whixh are actually agonist of the Gnrh receptor not antagonist, this actually causes temporary increase in sex hormone production at first but then it agonizes it so much that it desensitizes the receptor and shuts down sex hormone production.
That does make a lot of sense. I remember reading somewhere that the liver developes enzymes if it's exposed to alcohol, and this breaks it down more. You lose tolerence when you don't drink it because your body will deem the enzymes useless. Perhaps there are enzymes in our hair follicles that break down androgens and are only created in the presence of them.
I'm thinking about going vegetarian or vegan. So if I stop eating meat, will it make me sick next time I eat it? Oh, I wish so as well mate...just like when people go vegetarian they lose enzymes involved in breaking down meat! Im not actually aware of any research which says that the body gives a flying f*** to try to protect hair when something attacks it unlike all other organs which have some adaptations for survival purposes.
well, there is an enzyme in our muscles which deactivates Dht into something else. thats why testosterone is much better for muscle development than Dht. wish that same enzyme was in our hair
Scouring the internet until i Can’t hold my eyes open is my life. f*** why is it so hard? Ps, if it helps, you and your hair look great.I'm thinking about going vegetarian or vegan. So if I stop eating meat, will it make me sick next time I eat it? Oh, I wish so as well mate...
