I saw a girl in the grocery store the other day that was about in her mid 20's and ha a really nice body and very cute face. As I approached the produce section where she happened to be and got a little closer to her, I noticed that she had pretty bad diffuse thinning. You could clearly see her scalp through her long brown hair and seeing something like this seems to make our guy problems seem much more trivial. How do you think this girl feels about this? Im sure it affects her in a much more negative way and should make everyone of us here feel a little better, eh? There are MILLIONS of balding guys in this world and it's a little easier for us to be a little more at ease with this thinning problem we have than it is for this girl going through this. So keep your head up!

Yes I think it's socially acceptable for a guy to be bald whereas for girls it's something that is very rare.

It must be a thousand times harder for females than males for sure. we have the option of shaving our heads and still look decent but if a female shaved her head she should look like a version of GI Jane.

What can I say but...EEESHHH! As YoungAndThin said so well, it's socially acceptable for guys to loose their hair but not so with gals:( I dunno know but a gal's hair is her pride and joy. Recently on the Great Race on CBS one of the contestants had to have her head shaved and it made me cringe as I could just see how difficult it was for her to do this. Thanks to her very supportive team member and husband, she did ok. But eeesh! It must be 100 times worse for a gal to loose her hair than a guy. IMO.

Socially acceptable lol! if it was we would not all be slapping minoxidil on our heads and popping finasteride and there are a lot more girls that are losing there hair than you think. If you look about, how many things are there for a woman to hide her problem lol! hats, head scarfs, fake hair all more "Socially acceptable" for women to use in the name of fashion lol!

I do feel sorry for women that are thinning. I know a 19 year old girl with the problem but as for the socially acceptable bit I don't think so...........
