Dropped nizoral long time ago.. and I don't workout nowadays. I remember my hair loss accelerating when I was working out and taking protein shakes.. maybe there is correlation, maybe not.

Were you on finasteride when you were working out? Makes plenty of sense, working out = elevated testosterone, which means higher dht conversion when you're making love to your lady, but with finasteride now you could workout with no negatives.

Sorry, no pictures but I wanted to share my success. Since I have no pictures, I decided to share my success on zeroheat's thread because this success story is the main reason I started minoxidil. No finasteride though, I wanted to see if I'm a good responder to minoxidil.

My routine:

minoxidil 2x daily
regenepure shampoo 3-4x a week
alpecin shampoo when I'm not using regenepure
maxi-hair supplements

I started minoxidil towards the end of September, I want to say around Sept. 20th. I had similar temple recession to zeroheat. It's been a little less than two months on minoxidil and my temples have definitely filled in more towards my original hairline. Also, small black hairs (I'm asian as well) have grown up to my original hairline. I don't know if these are considered vellus because they are colored hairs that are visible under any light. These hairs haven't gotten any longer in the past week or two, but they have gotten darker, with the smaller hairs closer to my receded hairline growing in longer. It seems to me that they won't grow longer all at once, but rather the small hairs closer to my receded hairline will grow longer first, then if I'm lucky, the other small hairs leading up to my original hairline will start turning "terminal"? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I'm hoping. Otherwise, it kind of looks like I just shaved the hairs on my hairline short.

A side note, I did not experience any significant shedding. There might have been a few says where I thought I was shedding more than usual. I thought this was the beginning of the expected shedding, but then it stopped.

I am very hopeful right now! I am anxious to see if this is as good as it gets or if I'll have similar success to zeroheat. I do have a couple questions:

1. Are the small hairs at the front of my hairline considered vellus if they are easily visible under any light and not lighter colored?
2. How likely is it that these hairs will turn terminal and begin to grow longer?

EDIT: Looking back on zeroheat's 1 month 3 weeks (on minoxidil) update, that's very similar to the success I'm having. The receded part of the U shape has filled in with hairs of similar length to what it looks like in his pictures and the front of the hairline has similar "vellus hairs".

No I wasn't on finasteride.. my hair loss accelerated when I was working out.. I injured my wrist and quit working out, then I started taking finasteride later. I plan to start working out again.. I should be OK now I think.

I am considering finasteride, but from everything I've read, minoxidil is supposedly the main component for hair regrowth isn't it? finasteride is supposed to just help you maintain your hair? My plan was to see how well minoxidil worked first, then get on finasteride.

Does finasteride boost minoxidil regrowth?

they work better together. zeroheat said that minoxidil got his hairline back and finasteride keeps his top healthy but i believe its the other way around, that minoxidil keeps his top healthy and finasteride got his hairline back. minoxidil developed the vellus hairs on his hairline and finasteride assisted the growth by keeping DHT away. without finasteride to work internally, all minoxidil can do is produce vellus hairs.

i have definitely grown terminal hairs since starting minoxidil. if i don't see any more terminal growth from these vellus hairs in the next month, i will add finasteride to the mix.

i will eventually get on finasteride, im just trying to see if i can regrow this with minoxidil only.

I doubt the increase in androgens for one hour you get from working out does much to increase hair loss. Also masturbation decreases testosterone, but people claim stopping it improves their hair. Kind of contradicts the idea that androgens cause the loss.

2. use mirror or feeling? coz you can't see that spot with your eyes. lol
3. if i use spray and then i rub it with my finger is that already right ?

Yeah get on finasteride ASAP. I was 24-25 I think when I first started.. really should've started earlier.

That is what I use. Alcohol taste? I never tasted minoxidil!

My libido decreased sharply for the first 2-3 months or so.. then it slowly recovered. My libido is perfectly fine now.. my gf can't keep up with me lol
