As someone who has had an exaggerated amount of experience with medications and side effects, trust me when I say that the nocebo/placebo effects are f*****g real. Many times it’s really hard to distinguish the real side effects from the ones psychologically induced, especially if you spend most of your time reading horror stories on the internet.

That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard, testicular pain is one of the side effects of finasteride, my doctor acknowledged it and as soon as I stopped the pain went away.

In what sense are the studie from Merck garbage then? Since the drug is FDA Approved the drug must have been through a couple of test and been considered safe enough for use? Also there have been a fair amount of people trying to sue Merck and from what I have read they haven’t won a single one?

Also the new "studies" about propecia/fina are done by special interests like hair transplant surgeons,... And of course, we don't know how trustworthy these studies are.

Another thing you should look into is how pharma is allowed to do studies, if I remember correctly they can conduct unlimited amount of tests. So if 1/100 has favourable results, that study can be used for FDA approval.

Again, if fina is so safe, why is the internet FULL of people stating various side effects? It's almost every week we have new threads popping up about guys experiencing side effects. Only fools believe the official studies now. FDA an big pharma are the same beast, and they do not have your best interests at heart.

People are willfully blind and see an attack on fina as a personal attack because they are emotionally invested and hopeless in their battle against hairloss. I was one of them too.

Thank you! When reading the first article from HARVARD it makes me kind of negative towards FDA and especially about Merck.
I will look at the other two also and evaluate those. As to the question about people who get sides here and make a new thread about it I personally think is because the persons who take fina and it works without sides for don’t come here and moan about it. So IF we take the 2% chance from the official study they could well be within the % that get sides since the drug is prescribed to a lot of people.

(I don’t think you can contribute suicide to finasteride. It’s similar to when people make the conclusion that transgender people commit suicide due to HRT when it’s most likely due to them realising transitioning didn’t improve their life as they expected).

And, I don’t think I am aware of the lives finasteride has ruined. In all honesty, I can’t take finasteride users complaints seriously since particular members make it difficult to take them seriously (especially that man who was complaining about finasteride lowering his libido yet whilst having sex around thirteen times a week). Someone even has a thread about Nizoral causing gynecomastia.

Although, I guess it depends if they can be happily bald whilst having a higher risk of cardiovascular issues and prostate cancer.

And thankfully a lof of specialists are waking up to this. More and more dermatologists and other doctors don't prescribe anti androgens for hairloss anymore.

Sure, some of the complaints seem over the top but after all I know, it wouldn't surprise me if they were legit.

Anyway, you also have to give credit to people who got these side effects and then they read online where people dismiss their legitimate grievances as placebo, etc. It's very frustrating for them.

Only thing I hope for is a sideless new therapy, hopefully RCH will be that therapy.

What about CB? I think that could be a good treatment from what I have seen. It will probably be expensive but that doesn’t concern me if it’s side free.

I agree. I have to take antidepressants, and there are unwanted side effects but I have to take them to improve the quality of my life. Although I’m basically chemically castrating myself, I have to do it to improve the quality of my life. I don’t like feeling as if I’m a prisoner in my own body, and feeling as if I want to crawl out of my own skin due to androgens. I guess it’s situational for different people, though...

It was a point to explain that side effects occur from all medications, but if you feel you have to take the medication then sticking with it is the best option. Of course, there are unwanted side effects but the overall goal is to improve the quality of your life especially since there aren’t much successful options for treating hair loss.

I like my regimen... I enjoy the effects spironolactone, bicalutamide and estradiol are having on my body, including clearer skin. I was struggling heavily with combating acne; I thought I would have to live with acne all of my life since accutane didn’t work out for me.
