24M, significant diffuse thinning and receding hairline - is this salvageable?

At least it still looks good in normal lighting and you are not that guy who went bald in his 20s. So I say stay the course, and you should see some noticeable improvement in about 2-3 more months or so.
Ordered 90x10mg loniten. £65 and that will last me 6-9months easily. Not bad.

I might still keep applying topicals in the pm but in the am, what mg should I go for? Thinking like 2.5-3mg or cut the 10mg into 1/3rds

I think 2.5mg + topical would be a good starting point. Or 2.5mg oral twice daily if you don't want to do the topical anymore. If that goes well you could go up to 5mg twice a day. But if you want to cut thirds that should work just fine too.

Lets suppose that topical doesn't work for me,would oral work?

Very likely. Most topical non-responders lack the enzyme in their scalp, and so oral will create the enzyme when it passes through the liver, making it much more effective. The enzyme is sulfotransferase, it converts minoxidil into its active metabolite which is minoxidil sulfate.

I do, but I've only noticed it at doses of 10mg a day or more. This can be mitigated with a diuretic, like dandelion root for example, or even caffeine, as well as reducing sodium intake and increasing potassium, and if you are physically active and get a good sweat a few times a week it will help you to reduce the water retention too.

Do you know of any good products that can hold thin hair in a place without shitting on density?

Probably a dry powder. Wet/greasy stuff usually makes it look thinner but dry stuff usually seems to help make hair look thicker.
