This is a very interesting subject. Human behavior can be broken down into simple terms of hormones. Confidence...what causes it? Testosterone does, plain and simple. Passiveness...what causes it? You've guessed it: estrogen. Men have more testosterone than women, men are made to be confident and aggressive and competitive and that is how they "get the girl". Women are more passive and sensitive, less aggressive and more nurturing in nature, why is this? It is because women have more estrogen than men. Now, most young women are completely attracted to this bad-boy, rowdy, don't-give-ah-sh*t type of guy...Why? Have you even wondered why women "dig jerks": those smart-*** cocky, confident young guys with great heads of hair? It is because it is in their nature to be attracted to them, because they are the complete opposite of them. Opposites attract...just like a magnet.
It is known that balding men have low testosterone compared to estrogen and D.H.T. Well, as a man ages, his testosterone declines and estrogen rises, this is what you call a "hormonal inversion". This inversion is almost identical to the balding process. Ever wonder why you don't see most athletes on top of their performance past age forty? It is because their testosterone is falling while estrogen rises, which not only changes your body structure, it also changes your personality: less aggression, less confidence, more sensitivity, and more passivenesses.
Now here is the strange part. As women get older they lose estrogen, while men gain it. This hormonal shift puts the woman in the dominant position and men in the submissive position. It is said that a 50-year-old man has more estrogen than his post-menopausal wife! So when women are young and "more feminine" due to estrogen, they look for a young guy with lots of testosterone, how can you tell by looking at someone if they have good testosterone levels? Hair, muscles, confidence, aggressiveness... Young women (age 20) are attracted by a good head of hair; because it shows strength and youth, think testosterone. Now a 40-year-old woman with less estrogen, are often more attracted to guys with more estrogen, because remember opposites attract. How can you tell by looking at someone if they have high estrogen levels? Baldness, fat instead of muscle, sensitivity, and passiveness are all signs. The woman now realizes that this estrogenic man would be much more loyal, caring, and nurturing to her than a young, sex crazed muscular man. Therefore she would fall in love with him.
This is a classic example of an "under-dog" story. The handsome good looking jerk gets the girl at first, and rudely shows that he is the "alpha-male" to the under-dog character. Only at the end, does the girl fall in love with the under-dog because she finally realizes that he actually cares for her, wants to be with her, would do anything for her, while the handsome good looking alpha-male would be perfectly content with ending the relationship, because he could simply get more girls later on.
With all that being said, I'm surprised Bryan is balding...
