Michael Jackson is one very sick individual.

It's sad that someone so talented could disfigure themselves like that.

I can't even imagine what that guy must have gone through as a kid.

God bless 'em.

Vitilgo triggered BDD in Michael Jackson, probably the reason why he ended up wrecking himself. The same way a lot of us now nit-pick our faults because of the hair loss.

I think he meant vitiligo. Its a chronic disease where you lose pigment in your skin. So in Michael's case it is very obvious because he is dark skin. He made his skin lighter so his vitiligo would blend in. Erik, I am sure you have see people with this. You will notice areas on people's skin that looked "bleached" out.

So that's really true? People said he just bleached himself and narrowed his nose because he had an unfulfilled childhood dream of growing up as a little white boy.

Jacko's vitiligo might be real, or it might just be a cover-story to justify the change.

He once defended it in an interview by talking about how white people get suntans. That sounds to me like he probably chose to lighten himself up on purpose rather than for medical reasons.

If your not suffering from BDD, Taug, what new name have you given it? UFD:Ugly Face Disorder or is it FFD: Fugly Face Disorder? :lost:

hahah I don't believe Taug actually thinks himself as UGLY somehow.

After all the nice reponses Taug got at HLH, he stopped posting there too. I think he might do better on the BDD forum.

I know you say to avoid the mirrors but how easy is this?

you see ur reflection everywhere you go!....evne when u step into your own car...(thru ur windows) when you go to the mall....when u need to buy clothes....I mean you can try to avoid them but its impossible to completely avoid seeing yourself.

Does anyone notice that you look good in certain mirrors...but like sh*t in other mirrors?

and honestly for me...i never minded looking at myself in mirrors until my hair started to thin...now i dont want to look so i dont remind myself how bad it is....and the funny thing is no1 would think im bald unless they got a really close look...im still a norwood1 with some slight thinning.....even my barber says im fine...but i know myself that its not as thiick as it was a few years ago.

you know your hair the best, its easier to prevent for future loss than to regrow the hair that has been lost.

HTGT, I never said avoiding mirrors was easy but the less you look the better off you will be. A quick look in the mirror for a split second is not as harmful as looking in the mirror and inspecting your hair like its under a microscope is what you want to avoid doing the most. Also bright lighted areas or rooms does not help other. Working out and exercising and good nutrition will help you too deal better with BDD. The better you feel about yourself, the easier it is to deal with BDD and you will feel less depressed. As you age, there will be more flaws to deal with and the BDD can really get bad if you let it. You can only reverse aging to a certain extent. I would never say Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise can pass for person in their 20's or early 30's anymore.
