Are you the only one amongst your friends who's balding?

All my friends are quite a bit younger than me... and none of them are losing their hair

... so i'm always the only shaved head in the room.... but none of them ever mention it, i don't think they really notice, or are just too polite to ever say anything

I do feel a bit awkward tho

Yeah I am one of those token balding guys in my group too. It's weird because they make fun of it (I have a guy/girls close knit group so the guys and girls make fun of me) but I take it all in good stride.

Their attitude towards me hasn't changed and I'll continue to go out with them and get drunk and retarded just like I always have :D but yeah, I am that ONE guy in the group who is balding. DAMMIT LOL

I have a few friends who are losing hair, but they're mostly the Norwood 1.5 with diffuse type. I'm an NW2 with otherwise thick hair. Sometimes I think the grass is greener on the other side, but mostly not so much. I don't think that they're doing anything about their loss.

ALL of my friends are receeding. I hadn't even noticed this until I had the same problem. At least theirs is still thick, mine is thinning too :(

I'm the only one of my close friends back home. I've asked them a couple times if they notice the thinning. They say I'm paranoid, but at this point I know for sure I'm losing it. One of them actually said I was the best looking out of the group, but he was a guy, so his opinion doesn't count as much. I think my hairline's gotten a little worse since I last saw them.
I know what you mean about noticing others' hairlines now that I'm losing mine. Back when I had a full head of hair, I remember I used to think guys like Heath Ledger and Johnny Depp had like the coolest hair. Now I can see, even in those days, they had mildly receeding hairlines. Just something to think about for anyone out there with minor hairloss. Your hair can still be cool.

Haha yes! I know...I totally agree with this ! Isn't it weird how, before you knew you had a problem, you didn't notice anybody's loss at all? Only the really obvious NW5+ guys. Now you see the same people you've seen before but in a whole new light, so strange I never noticed before. I suspect most other people are like that too :)

an NW3 can look awesome with long hair; as long as it's still thick and it's worn in a middle-parting so it covers the temples. SO many guys do this I've noticed. Looks fantastic, it's what I'm going to do if my crown thickens up.

Yeah, I used to think Kramer had the coolest hair back in the days. But now when I watch the reruns in the balding stages of my life, I can see that he actually had a receding hairline for most of the series.

Kinda makes me feel a lot better knowing that the average non-balding person won't think I'm balding even though I'm a nw1.5-2 with a little diffuse thinning.

But dont compare Kramer male pattern baldness with 20's NW4 male pattern baldness.

yeah losing it very young and fast is hard. Then again, you always think you're too young to lose your hair no matter how old you are :)

Yeah, but men who have a nice family and a good job have other things to compensate hair. I have nothing.....

Hey taug, are you going to school? If so, is it hard going to school considering the condition of your hair?

Lol you talk to him like he's NW5 or something. He's NW2diffuse. If he has a problem going out in public because of his hair then his hair is the least of his problems.

I am studying at an university. Due to my avoidant personality disorder it is hard for me in general to go out. Hair loss makes it worse of course, but it doesn´t stop me from going out, yet. I also wear hats most of the time.

I'm 23. Though I'm not to bad with the hairlose at the moment, I have started to notice those who have some degree of lose. It must be like a 6th sense we get. Out of my group of friends, I'd say around half are starting to lose their hair in some way or another. Those who are are usually on there way to either a NW2/3, but there are a couple of diffuses in the bunch. One guy I know whos 28 is finished... like totally finished.

I'm the only one of my friends losing hair. It's always the same routine, we meet new girls and they always comment on my lack of hair. My friends don't defend me, they like to make fun of my hairline, too. I check my friends hairlines all the time hoping they're losing too. They all laugh at me but most of them have Norwood 5 or Norwood 6 dads. It's only a matter of time.

One of my friends is way worse, his hair is getting very thin, if I was him I would have shaved it down, but Im not going to force the issue as its his hair and he will never have it again.

then 3 of my friends are thinning, 2 Ive never heard anyone say anything to them but I think one of them is realising, he is starting to cut his hair, shorter, slowly going shorter from shoulderish length.

1 of them is in denial majorly, he has tried ripping into me before and Ive simply said "Im 3 years older than you, do you really think that youll have more hair than me when your my age?", his reply "my hair is naturally thin!".
I wouldnt normally do this but it pisses me off when people try to rip me for my hairloss especially when they are losing hair.

and one other who is 19 at the moment and his father is NW6/7 and he loves to lay into everyone who has the slightest bit of baldness, hairloss, grey hair. The thing is he wont have much hair by the time he is 20 so once again he should shut up, but then again its his way of dealing with his early hairloss which he tries to hide by shaving it down or buzzing it.

Im definately dont think its fair game to rip into someone who has hairloss but if someone does it to me when they are blantantly losing their hair, they will get it back. Its not our fault, its genetics!!

You know what sucks, my father is a Norwood 5 by 35, and his father had a perfect hairline until 70+. And I have seen the reverse. My girlfriends grandfather has no hair, and his son, is 50+ and has full, thick brad pitt hair. Sometimes it seems so much like a coin toss that you start to wonder whether its predetermined, or that you are just THAT UNLUCKY!

My father and his father had/have full heads of hair, but my mom's dad and brother went bald. I had a naturally receding hairline since puberty, and I've always been unsure which way things were going to go.

But now I don't even worry about it. :)

Im not trying to be picky or offensive, but Im failing to see how that comment relates to my post!!! I may be missing the point but hey!!
If your saying Im angry Im not, Im just saying it pisses me off when people try to have digs at me to make themselves feel better, it usually results in me using my nasty side and making them feel alot worse.
I accepted baldness as an inevitability a long time ago, I just dont agree with people laying into each other just to make themselves feel big and the other one feel small.
Ive probably just missed the point, so please explain.

p.s. If your talking about the 19 year old, he is thinning quite fast and the shape of the horseshoe is emerging.
