my mother is a real fickle person too. when i was handsome i was her darling boy and could have stayed there forever, but the more hair i lost and the uglier i got, the more she looked down upon me and wanted me out
man i hate baldness as much as anyone but dont you think this is unhinged? your mom isn't going to kick you out for being uglier, unless you and her's relationship is very dysfunctional 0_0

I didn't know you also lived with your dad.

How do you help him out? What does he do for work?

very occasionally i live with my dad, i usually do chores . and he's a technician, he may have a doctorate but the field is very niche and not in demand at all

Good for him. I gather technicians make more than most PhDs.
You could be his apprentice at work

Technicians must get more than 60k?
no, like i said 30 to 40k at least in america. think specialized practical knowledge, hence the root of the word "technical". a few examples off the top of my head are a network technician (sets up and repairs networks) or a radiologist who works the x rays at hospitals. they arent focused on general thereotical knowledge but how to do specific complex things

as opposed to the professional, in this case, computer scientists and doctors who make way more than net work techs and radiologists. they are on the highest rung of status and know the field much more intimately and have to learn a lot more

compare a computer scientist salary to a network technicians, big difference.

for someone with a phd its pretty bad to be a technician, my dad has deep knowledge of his field (as any doctorate should have) but does the work of someone with a bachelors.

Sure, but computer scientists/doctors earn like 150k+

40k is low for someone with specialized knowledge. Pharmacists earn 100k+ AFAIK

when i say specialized knowledge im specifically referring to practical and technical knowledge, like how to operate a certain machine like with the radiologist example. pharmacist would have to learn a lot of medical theory, but you're right its 6 figures median salary. they need a professional degree

basically it was like this - when i was handsome, any little mistake i made, she would overlook, like leaving my room messy / forgetting to take the garbage out / sleeping in too late. as i grew uglier, she would always nag me more; your room is a mess, you need a girlfriend, you didn't do x/y/z. so it wasn't as if as soon as I hit NW5 she said "get out", but it certainly didn't help. maybe i phrased it too badly.

It could just be that she wants you to grow up.

Young people nowadays need to choose between having a boring life with money or having a good life but no money. When i used to sit in every weekend, miserable about my hairloss, i could afford to save about £300 a month but my life was boring and pointless for over a year.

Now that I actually go out, i literally live from month to month. I make a decent salary for my age but after my car bills, hair meds, money to go out and other miscellaneous thing cone out I have no money left over to save. Hairloss meds alone account for over £100/month

This is a far more enjoyable than sitting at home on lots of money but what chance do we have when we have to choose between a boring life or a ‘poor’ life

Yeah I understand what you're saying but most things in life we derive pleasure and enjoyment from require money: socialising, food, consumption of media. What individual people choose to do within these categories may differ but it will still cost money a lot of the time

Talking about myself, I spend money on food, alcohol, my car loan payments, gym membership and diesel. On top of this I also sometimes like to treat myself with clothes, etc. I'm not complaiing, as I enjoy my life, but it's a choice I have to make in my own life and a lot of people I know are in a similar situation

You're spending your money like the typical youth of our generation. You're not poor, but not rich enough to buy anything with real value. So you spend the money you do have on things that won't give you any value down the line.

how does it cost money to socialize and consume media? you can download and stream whatever you want for free. just have to pay for internet. but if you really wanted you could just download stuff at public places and not pay for internet at all haha. that would be a pain though

i dont get why it would cost money to socialize? im mystified. unless you're talking about paying for drinks while at a bar or something? thats not paying for socializing
