Bicalutamide : Increased risk of developing Diabetes. Does anyone know how to combat such a side effect?

"Our results demonstrate for the first time that several interactions take place between IGF-1 and LHRH receptors in gonadotrope cells."

I still try to find studies, if Bicalutamide (alone) has any effects on the LHRH receptor/axis. It seems like the increased IGF-1 levels can be related to the LHRH-agonist, used in prostate cancer treatment.

"Bicalutamide monotherapy does not appear to alter the IGF-1/IGFBP system"

"The addition of tamoxifen to bicalutamide produced a sharp decrease in IGF-1 levels (p<0.001) coupled with an increase in both IGFBP-1 (p=0.001) and, to a lesser extent, IGFBP-3 (p=0.5)"

"The concurrent administration of tamoxifen and bicalutamide reduces the synthesis and bioavailability of IGF-1"

"Moreover, increased binding protein levels might exert antiproliferative and proapoptotic effects on prostate cancer cells, independently of the IGF-1/IGF receptor-mediated survival system. Both effects might have a synergistic inhibitory influence on prostate cancer growth."

I want to start as well, Bicalutamide and Raloxifene, but I fear to disturb my development, I am 17 1/2, and balding since I am 13/14 years old.

It's clearly visible in this forum that 5ARis don't do much for people balding >20 yo, they are in need of potent AA's :(.

Hey Guys,
A little about myself. Diffuse thinner since I was 16years old.
Current Regimen (Daily):
0.5mg Dutasteride
1mg Finasteride
50mg Bicalutamide
1500mg Metformin
Raloxifene 80mg
2ml Liquid minoxidil daily

I read a recent study which talks about the possibility of developing diabetes whilst on Bicalutamide from the FDA's access data report where :

'Bicalutamide Tablets work. Reduction in glucose tolerance, manifesting as diabetes or a loss of glycaemic control in those with pre- In patients with advanced prostate cancer treated with Bicalutamide T Tablets in combination with an LHRH existing diabetes, has been reported during treatment with LHRH agonist'

Bicalutamide is notorious to cause diabetes. Does anyone know what is the best way to utilise Bicalutamide while avoiding an increase in blood sugar levels? Any help would be great. I dont want to continue using a medication which can cause diabetes, but if there is a way to control it, id appreciate it heaps, so that I can continue to utilise such a strong anti- androgen. BTW I am not a diabetic nor do I have an intention to become one.

By the way, Bicalutamide does not cause feminization at 50mg daily and I do not have any other side effects not even Gyno. My only concern is this as a possibility. DHTCEL do you have any advice?
Thanks
DHTcel is long gone.

This was his last picture: ...

No wonder he didn't came back after being banned in 2019 lol.

Youll get Gyno really really quickly. Youll need raloxifine despite increasing T levels, if you take dutasteride or Finasteride, youll be able to sustain on 50mg of Bica.
I know about gyno, most likely I will get it in 2-3 months. I'm ready for this, it shouldn't be too big. Raloxifene is expensive and reduces effectiveness by increasing T. Therefore, I just want to have surgery to remove the gyno

Yes but Bicalutimide alone does cause diabetes with or without castration. A side effect of Cassodex is an increase in the IGF-1 Factor which causes a rise in blood sugar levels.
I see no evidence. The studies I find say nothing about this

"Casodex must be taken with a type of drug called an LHRH(!) analog. However, these drugs can increase your blood sugar levels"
- Only in prostate cancer treatment.

I think Bicalutamide can be taken for live, till your liver says no. Then you'll have to switch to a topical including heavy AA, like Darolutamide, maybe even combined with microneedling after shower.

Have you tried only finasteride or Duta, or switched to Bicalutamide right away? How long did it take for your hair to get thicker? Please tell us in detail about your story, every experience with Bica is important

The only thing that concerns me is the fact that Bicalutamide inhabits lactose.
I am lactose-intolerant, so that would be problematic for me.

Thinking about drinking Lactase Tablets before drinking bica tablets.

We have no information on how effective Bicalutamide is for hair. We only have Ein, but one example is not enough. There is also an example where this did not help. It is more effective than Finasteride or Duta anyway, so try this. I think it will get better. Diffuse thinners respond better to treatment than people with temple retreats

yes.
Using finasteride and dutasteride enables you to use a lower dosage of Bica.

Might of misread it. I think your right brother. I believe it must be used in combo with castration in order for such a side effect to occur.

How long after you started using Bicalutamide did you notice hair thickening? 3 months? Half a year, a year?

Have you tried Finasteride or Duta without Bicalutamide? Or did you start using it right away?

bica only stops further hairless. Oral minoxidil and topical minoxidil regrow hair. I 3months I saw a dramatic improvement.
