Hi, I have been using MG Ford to supply and fit custom human hair systems for me for a couple of years now, both him and the systems are great.

However, he is based near Bristol and I live all the way up north in Northumberland. So every time I need a new system it’s a whole, long journey, overnight stay blah blah. Which is fine, once a year, but does pose an issue with styling my biohair in between fitting the new systems.

I don’t currently have anyone local who can cut my hair (or that I would trust) so, can anyone recommend any stylists more local to me who can provide a the same or similar service as Mike?
Thanks

First of all, learn to do your own maintenance and fitting. It's not that difficult, there's plenty of info about how to do it online and once you've learned you won't be dependant on a stylist as you can do it youself. I never understand why some hair system wears stay dependant upon a stylist for this - what is something goes wrong between attachments and you need to fix it at home, but can't? That's another reason you need to learn.

Secondly, any normal hairdresser can cut in a hair system. As long as they're careful and mindful it's a hair system that is, but other than that it's just like cutting bio hair.

Another option is to get your hair systems ready cut by your supplier, so all you have to do is attach them when they arrive. Or just do the cut in yourself at home.

None of this is particularly difficult and will make life easier for you if you put in the time and effort to learn how to do it.

I’m sorry if i wasn't clear, I do my own maintenance and fitting etc, I always have, however it’s difficult to cut my own hair, especially as I wear my hair in a longer style.

I haven’t found any competent hairdressers locally to me who have experience of cutting in hair systems, I have been advised these need to be cut in a certain way to avoid detection?
Also, I would hate to have an expensive system ruined by someone who is inexperienced.

I would welcome recommendations of hairdressers who can cut in a system local to me.
Hence my question I guess.

I wear my hair longer too (around 8 to 10 inches - I'm a rock musician, yoiu understand.....). I actually don't need to do much cut in other than trimming the length of the system slightly, which is easy to do myself. I then just attach the system over my shaved area and it blends nicely with my bio hair on the back and sides.

Is the possibility of a remote cut in based on a previous piece & pics an option if you cant get there in person?
He does do remote cuts etc, however I still have the issue with having someone to cut my bio hair in with the new system. I was hoping for recommendations of either more local to me services that can offer the same service as Mike or any recommended ‘regular’ hairstylists that can cut my bio hair. ,
If I have to travel for the initial fitting etc then so be it. But it’s still that issue when my bio hair gets longer. I just don’t know where to go that will not ruin the system while also cutting my bio hair.

Is your hair all one length? I currently have my partner cut my bio hair but. She’s not a hairstylist and she does the best she can, but it’s not as good as it could be. What do people do to cut their bio hair?

Is your hair all one length?

Mostly - I don't layer it or anything like that. Thinking about it, the front part or the system might be slightly shorter than the back and sides simply because it's easier to manage that way - I make the front about chin length. I wear it in a central parting with the hair kind of swept back and the hairline semi-exposed (no hair hanging down over my face). I usually brush the hair back behind my ears too. I've tried havin the hair striaght down over my ears, but it became too much of a pain to stay in place and would eventually fall forward over my face.

Another thing is to make sure your hair system and bio hair are the same length and as closely colour matched and texture matched as possible. If you have bio hair longer than your hair system, it can look a bit weird (and possibly be a giveaway too), so I peridically trim the length of my bio hair to match the length of the system. I suppose a bitofbio hair growth can give the illussion your hair is growing, but if anyone was to ask why my hair length always looks the same I'd just tell them that I trim the length once a month or so because I like it to always be at a certain length and don't it any longer.

There are many possibilities with a longer hair system, so how you cut it in and style it is up to you.

What do people do to cut their bio hair?

Just a good pair of hairdressing scissors (don't use kitchen or craft scissors as these don't give as neat a cut as proper hairdressing scissors). An easy way to trim the length is to put your hair system and bio hair into a pony tail and cut thar to your desired length. Or you can trim the length by sight in front of a mirror when it's not tied back. The other option is to trim it when you detach the system and it's on a manequin head. Of course you can get someone else to do this too.

As I said, I truim the bio hair to match the length of the system too, which can be done by sight in from of a mirror. Another bonus to this is that it makes it look like your hair has had a trim, which gives the impression all your hair is real too.
