So anywho, back to the topic... I saw an Addidas commercial today that had a white bald guy in it. They had some good shots of him in there, didn't try to hide him or anything and no negative connotations, so.... pretty cool. :agree:

If you notice, in MANY movies that jason Statham is on the cover of the DVD, the shot usually stops at his forehead. Everyone knows he is bald but they try to show it as little as possible I notice. I went to the DVD store the other day and noticed it yet again on a movie he was in. It was a close up of him but stop right at the hairline.

Yeah I do know what you're talking about when you say stares. I feel I get a lot more stares now that I wear a buzzcut (which is obviously thin). I don't know if it is because I look tough (I think I do a bit) or because they notice that I'm clearly balding or because they can tell that a buzzcut doesn't suit me at all.

Use a pen.

Yeah I've seen it on loads of other bald celebs the top of the shot becomes like a replacement hairline. Probably a well known technique amongst photograhers

f*****g hell hatprisoner, I don't see how you get to label him a "nutjob" after you post sh*t like this.

I f*****g agree with him - can you imagine what it would be like if everyone in real life was as useless as the people on this "impact of hairloss" section? Imagine what it'd be like if everyday people actually believed the bullshit posted here? Life wouldn't be worth living. There's nothing "tough guy" about pointing out obviously depressing posts, it's what any person would do in real life.

It's evolution I guess, the useless / negative people stay at home being miserable, and don't reproduce.

Go out, cut the bullshit negativity and f*****g enjoy life you fools. Imagine looking back on this period once you're over it - such a futile waste...

If you agree with him and what he thinks about this place, then why don't you leave also? You won't be missed.

Sure it is him trying to be a "tough guy". The way he talks in his posts to people is the proof. Look at his original posts. He was complaining about his hairloss also. People didn't insult him when he did.

No matter what a person's situation, people should talk to others with respect. This guy just rips and insults people. Well then I speak to him with the same disrespect. It's that simple.

You should. That guy is clearly a nutjob who likes to act like a tough guy.
TBH I can totally see his point, I'd say he's got the right idea but I guess I'm already too far gone.

Before I came to this site, I was so pent up with all my issues and baggage. I'm grateful for this site because it has allowed me to engage my problems with others and learn a thing or two in the process. So, thanks everyone!

I think every case is individual.

What ticks me off is when people judge you without knowing how you feel or your situation. Fact is everyone here has let hairloss bother them. Some more than others. Clearly most of the people here have minor degrees of hairloss.

If someone has moved on, that's wonderful but why stay here and try and belittle the rest?

It's like someone who overcame some disease staying on a forum for people still suffering and calling them idiots because they didn't do what he/she did.

Back to the topic.......someone discounted media as the culprit. Black people have had numerous role models who where bald. White people have had very few. DO they just plain "look better" or is it more acceptable since its become mainstream? I think it's the latter moreso than the former. A few more Howie Mandel's ( a lof of women at my work think he's hot by the way) and we can leave this site.

As an aside, regardless of whether or not baldness becomes completely acceptable, it just sucks to not be able to style your hair. People can change their appearance, give themselves a makeover and feel better about themselves. Bald people will never be able to change their hairstyle. Then again, how many people over the age of 40 change their hairstule anyways?

Its not so much about changing your hairstyle (although hair is a great way of expressing your individual style) its more about fitting in with the norm in society.

I would'nt say thats a fair comparison, m.p.b is not a disease.

I'll admit to being negative. That is just what I'm drawn to I suppose. We see what we want to, for whatever reasons. As difficult as being bald can be, I think I made it more difficult for myself than necessary because I wanted to feel that bitter righteousness. Like I am right and everyone else is wrong. I could dwell on a bad incident for weeks and completely forget all the neutral or even positive times. I know who I am and I know I am capable of great things, despite some strangers passing opinion of me. I don't think I am ready to forsake the potential good times waiting for me in this life of mine for some uncomfortable moments.

Howie Mandel/Joey Lawrence aren't your typical white guy. They are very tan and are on tv (hence makeup). The good looking bald white guys are almost always tan. Black guys are already dark so it doesn't stand out.

Do you think Moby looks great? How about Billy Corgan (Smashing pumpkins)? I would say 99 percent of people think they don't look good at all.

Sorry but Billy Corgan looks 10000% better bald than with hair. See the 'Today is the Day' videoclip where Billy have hair.
