Read my post above, if he's not or has never been in psychiatry, he's doing better than I was when I was bald.
He can still be a functioning member of our society (assuming he's not stuck in bed because of the cancer)? Then he's doing fine to me.
That's how I see it, when I phoned the psychiatric clinic, I was completely fucked up, no way I was ever going to university in that state (and looking like that), no way I was ever studying again, no way I was having a normal social life, etc. I just couldn't function anymore.
But all the people I know who went through cancer are going to work every day being like:
"What's up guys?!"
That's all I need to know that they're doing fine.
Well you're wrong. Pain comes in many forms. There are those who will never call a psychiatric clinic no matter how much pain they're going through. There are many people who can still be a "functioning member of society" and yet are in pain.
You shouldn't assume you know what other people are going through by comparing how you might respond in their shoes. Often you won't properly put yourself in their shoes "just shave it bro, I would!", and different people care about different things.
I agree, but I never was the one who started with these dumb comparisons.
"I know a guy who has cancer and..."
"Just go to a cancer ward, you'll see what true suffering looks like."
"At least you don't have cancer."
You were the one who claimed your suffering is far worse than what anyone else goes through.
