Facebook Post On The Pursuing Of Women

Somewhat on topic drunken rant:
I think feminism is a great thing, but I feel like it is making woman have their standards WAAAAAAYYYYY higher than they should be. I'm in a program that is mostly female dominated; I overhear a lot of the girls talking about guys they are interested in. They are like solid 4s and 5s aiming for 9s and 10s. This one girl that is literally a 3 was talking about how she was "talking" to a football player. Like that is really going to work out right?
I saw some post on Facebook the other day too. It was like "Hot guys are overrated, go for that 7 that makes you laugh." Ummm last time I checked people that are "7s" are usually considered attractive?

I think the numbers thing is so subjective.
I would think anything above a 5 is attractive. But its kind of hard for everyone to be on same page with this rating system.

A couple days ago I actually saw a DIFFERENT facebook post (I know, I know, I spend too much time on facebook lol) with a picture of a dude proposing to an overweight chick, and the caption was something along the lines of "big girls deserve a handsome man"
"deserve"...really? Such a strange choice of words. I thought deserve meant something you're entitled to because you worked for it and earned it....what exactly about being overweight entitles someone to an attractive partner? Do I deserve a 10/10 chick then because I'm trying to looksmax? Very strange mindset...and of course thousands of chicks are liking it and posting about how great it is. Didn't see anyone counterarguing it in the initial comments....I'm sure they knew they would get crucified if they did

Many people claim to have very high standards I think because of the impact instagram and media in general has on our culture
In reality I think many people would be thrilled or at the least flattered if a 6+/10 showed that kind of interest in them

My other favorite thing I see a lot is girls posting Tinder convo screenshots on social media. It will always involve the guy (usually some Chad Thundercock looking guy) saying something sexual to her, then the girl saying something sexual back. The caption "Wow this guy is so creepy." b**ch please, you wouldn't have matched with the guy or be responding back to him if that was the case. You crave his attention.

Its easy to make feminism a scapegoat out of this, but I really dont think it has anything to do with feminism (beyond to what level you can say feminism instigated the upheaval of the traditional job market and family unit primacy - something feminism likes to lay claim to, but in reality more likely came to pass because it was very profitable for the elite to destroy the family unit and have both genders fighting for scraps in the workplace as well as living more individualistic lifestyles up until their 30s or even 40s whereby they will end up spending more money on sh*t they dont really need)
Rather the so called sexual revolution (again, something feminism lays claim to, but was actually the side effect of massively changed economic and social structures) simply devalued men's traditional role as providers and gave way to women selecting mates based primarily on sexual desire. I'm not commenting on this as a good or bad thing, just giving context.
The other side of the coin is men themselves. Its not really women who are giving unrealistic ideas of value to other women, its thirsty men who bombard average looking women with desperate appeals that gives them an inflated sense of where they stand in the sexual market. Theres other reasons to consider of course, but this is definitely one of the largest ones.
and regarding the "looks scale" yeah most people have a retarded sense of scale. When most people consider themselves a "7" they really mean 5. A 7 is someone who is well and truly above average looking. But then, the subtle tell here is very few people are honest enough to consider themselves just average.
I may get flamed for this, but you all may have noticed that IDGAF. So here goes:
I think if you're one of these guys — there's lots of them here, let's be honest — who really does have these absurdly high standards, where anything less than an "8" doesn't appeal to you, I'm forced to believe you have very little experience with real women and your standards are set by Instagram models and p**rn. Baldness at that point just becomes a scapegoat for justifying being single later in life when the reality is that the women they're trying to get with are out of their league even with hair.

No, but when you're hooked on p**rn, instagram, etc., you're overexposed to airbrushed idealism. Like, I follow this one page that often posts pictures of vintage models from the 40s to 80s and there is always at least one cringey, ugly dude leaving the "Durr I'll bet she had a HUGE bush" comment. Like this guy is in any position to turn a woman down on that basis and as if that woman in the photo would've even been interested in him.
Tons of well-below-average men tend to feel entitled to a pornstar/sports illustrated woman. They can just get with her if they're "confident" enough!
To use actresses as examples, while Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are extremely hot, like 8s - 10 I'd say, I'd also be more than happy with Felicity Jones or Daisy Ridley, who look more like average women, but are still pretty. I think if you just can't get your dick up for the latter category, you have unrealistic expectations of real women.

Felicity Jones isn't beautiful but she isn't average either.
Maybe you're one of the guys you're talking about who has his standards set to high if you think you'd be in a position to turn down women who ONLY look as good as Felicity Jone unless you're pretty good looking with hair.

It all depends on the situation.
Exactly as a woman, a man might not look interested in a woman because:
- he thinks the woman does not like him at all, so why bother
- he thinks the woman is too much above his league
- he thinks the situation is not appropriate (workplace, professional situations)
- he does not know the marital situation of the woman
And mostly:
- he thinks that, if she was interested, SHE would show it!
...and the list goes on
It all depends on the situation.

I have dated women I would consider better looking than Felicity Jones.
If she isn't "beautiful" but isn't "average" either, then I must ask you: What the hell do you consider "average"? I'm not convinced there is an in between that isn't so subjective it's not even worth discussing as no agreeable conclusion could be reached.
Most people on here's definition of "ugly" is far too extreme.

I think she's attractive, but she still looks totally normal; girl next door type that I like. I could go through most people's Facebook friends list, walk around the mall, etc. and I guarantee I would see more girls than not who look just like her or better and only a handful who look much worse. She doesn't have huge breasts, the Sports Illustrated physique, kind of odd mouth shape and definitely not the typical model face shape.
This is an average-looking woman with some makeup on and dressed up: You will find them everywhere.

If you can't get hard to a woman who looks approximately as well as Felicity...you're spending too much time looking at Playboy. If you yourself can't get with a woman of roughly comparable looks, you are likely well-below average, yourself.

After I just looked at a lot of her pics on the internet I agree with you. Most of her pics are about average but she can look very pretty with the right angles and makeup.

I agree with this, but i think average men having absurdly high standards is not a sincere standard but rather men rationalizing away their fear of rejection.
I used to do this when i was younger, i still see my friends engage in it frequently. In reality they'd be quite happy to be dating a 5 or a 6 but are afraid of rejection so they rationalize their inaction as "not my type" or <insert lame excuse here>. These are also the same types of guys who do hail mary attempts on very attractive women knowing full well they are going to get blown out with their clumsy full of bluster approach, but that is the intent, to get blown out in such a manner that their ego isnt hurt and so their friends can laugh and pat them on the back. They would ironically be sh*t scared if that 7 or 8 was receptive.
