I may get flamed for this, but you all may have noticed that IDGAF. So here goes:

I think if you're one of these guys — there's lots of them here, let's be honest — who really does have these absurdly high standards, where anything less than an "8" doesn't appeal to you, I'm forced to believe you have very little experience with real women and your standards are set by Instagram models and p*rn. Baldness at that point just becomes a scapegoat for justifying being single later in life when the reality is that the women they're trying to get with are out of their league even with hair.

"But you can't control who you're attracted to!"

No, but when you're hooked on p*rn, instagram, etc., you're overexposed to airbrushed idealism. Like, I follow this one page that often posts pictures of vintage models from the 40s to 80s and there is always at least one cringey, ugly dude leaving the "Durr I'll bet she had a HUGE bush" comment. Like this guy is in any position to turn a woman down on that basis and as if that woman in the photo would've even been interested in him.

Tons of well-below-average men tend to feel entitled to a pornstar/sports illustrated woman. They can just get with her if they're "confident" enough!

To use actresses as examples, while Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are extremely hot, like 8s - 10 I'd say, I'd also be more than happy with Felicity Jones or Daisy Ridley, who look more like average women, but are still pretty. I think if you just can't get your dick up for the latter category, you have unrealistic expectations of real women.

Where are all these below-average men who feel they are entitled to pornstars? Most below average guys I know are either in a relationship with a fat below average girl or are desperately trying to get an average girl. Most people try to hit about +1 or +2 from where they think they're at. Most below average guys know exactly where they're at, go on tinder and swipe for hours only to match a few fatties and you'll quickly find out. Seriously though there isn't a single below average, or even average guy I know who wouldn't be all over a girl like Felicity Jones in a minute if they could.

You'd have to be seriously unselfaware to be below average and think you can get 8's.

I've seriously come to believe Irish guys are some of the most desperate. Go on POF.com for Ireland, setup a fake account with some below average fat girl, set status as "casual dating/no commitment". Watch the 100s of messages come in from guys up to 8/10's. Until you do it you won't believe just how bad it is. It's sad really. This is why girls have an inflated view of who they can get.

All you have to do is imagine it was the other way around. Tinder had 5 times more women, all of whom were swiping and messaging constantly, even as an average guy you can turn it on and have a guaranteed list of matches. How much pickier would you be? I'd probably think if I tried hard enough I could get an 8/10.

So personally I disagree with this 'overexposure' stuff. I'm exposed to hot girls in movies, p**rn and real life and yet I'd be perfectly happy with a 5/10. I think the 'shooting higher than you can' is mostly a girls issue, at least here in Ireland.

They are everywhere. Not going to name names here, because I don't need that sh*t storm. I don't know how much you lurk the impact forums, but have you seen how harsh a lot of people are regarding how attractive people are? Perfectly average or even above average people are labeled as "hideous" all the time and in the same thread you'll see these guys posting models and saying how she's their idea of attractive while also complaining about how ugly they are...

I see this all the time in real life. Guys are always asking out women who are clearly way out of their league and rationalizing their failure rather than accepting the fact that they just aren't on her level. No one wants to put in the effort to improve themselves but want a partner who does. That's why you have the "big girls deserve a hot guy too" or whatever someone was mentioning earlier. Also, referring to the recurring comments about vintage models. No one was so concerned about whether or not she ripped all the hair off her crotch before it became a standard in p**rn. There are many studies that have shown how p**rn has influenced young people's sexual expectations and has caused many young men ED. Overexposure is most definitely real.

On one of Jimmy Kimmel street segments, they were asking people how many people they've had sex with. This one dude, Zach Galifianakis type, said zero "because he's picky. "

I don't doubt he is.

Fair enough, I do think things are different here in Ireland though. I think that might be a symptom of the US's everyone's-a-winner attitudes that makes even the dumbest fucks think their opinion should be respected and that they will be rich and have a hot wife when they are older.

I feel things are slightly more pessimistic, realistic here.

Whilst I'm sure over-masturbation and p**rn has had effects on guys sexual experiences/expectations, I don't think it's in a 'I can get that girl' kind of way. I could be wrong, it's just never had that effect on me even in the slightest.

I do think it affects your arousal though. I read that your mind becomes used to the availability of changing p**rn videos and girls multiple times and thus it becomes harder to orgasm with a real girl. I'm sure there are other things like this.

Not really a major issue when you're main problem is getting the girl to sleep with you in the first place though lol.

Also sometimes I might label a celebrity or actor 'ugly' when in reality I'd jump at the chance to date her. It's more that relatively she is ugly and I'm expressing my disagreement with those who says she's pretty. Don't know if that's relevant though.

Yep.

- It takes two to tango

- Women always make the first move

Women are always safe, if a guy makes the first move it's very risky if he hasn't done the homework beforehand, if there's another guy if he sees you trying to hit on her you may even get a beating and some women actually like that, to see guys fighting over her.

I can't see anything wrong with the American spirit of individual optimism and a strive for "something more."

This kind of thinking is inherent in all cultures, only, American culture seems to celebrate it, as opposed to quietly shunning it.

Yeah I guess it contributes to the success of creativity and innovation there.

I've always thought that there's as much dumb fucks here in Ireland and the UK as there is in the US, it's just that they're more aware that they are dumb fucks. Like you might hear the bloke down in the pub shite on about how global warming is a hoax, but he'd never be out protesting or on tv talking about it lol. He knows he's just a pisshead. Many Americans, it seems, have never been told that they are idiots. Or at least when they were kids they were told they were the best and it stuck with them.

Well that's my ignorant theory anyways lol.

Good points.

I also think that the reason a "lot" of Americans come across as "dumb" is only because the United States is the most media saturated country on the planet, and has been for the last, say 50 years.

So... What is going to be a more interesting soundbite to use on a comedy program... An in depth conversation regarding the composition of the cosmos taking place at a dinner party in an American suburban home?
Or a stilted and embarrassing Q and A session regarding world capitals with some barley literate folk from, say... Arkansas?

Which clip is more "entertaining" to the time poor masses of the Western world?

Give it some thought.

Ah yeah good point, no doubt this is true. I've been to the US and have spent a decent part of the last 10 years on forums full of Americans lol, which is why I believe that there really aren't much more stupid people in the US (as many people here do believe), it's just that they are more vocal, and as you pointed out they are given more coverage from the media. I would say they are more pro-active.

I hate dumb as sh*t 'reality' tv though. Never liked it, only parodies of dumb people I like lol.

Those shots are from the Indy film "Like Crazy", which did well at Sundance a few years back, and is the first movie I saw her in.

no I think maybe its that our dumb people are just better catered too well organized and validated mostly for votes and radio/tv news ratings...both sides do this to an extent.

By the way, for those of you who like film, "Like Crazy", which is about 90 minutes long, is a very good film. It did well at Sundance and it starred Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence and Anton Yelchin before they wee successful.

i think he means 'model' beautiful...as beautiful

but the word beuaitufl is not exclusive to the top 2% of women who happen to look like models.

In fact a lot of models are just extremely photogenic...they are not always women who turn heads before hair/makeup and clothes especially the runway girls.

see things get so subjective.

and kind of silly.

Im guilty of the silliness on here too with ratings...but really who cares.
