Frown lines from hell, Related to minoxidil?

Hey guys, An update.

I no longer think these are frown lines. Well at least normal ones. The dent follows where the 2 frontal bone structures meet in the middle of your forehead so it's more like a dent than a wrinkle. Problem is this dent is becoming more noticable and its climbing vertically. Now I thought, How could this be? I can't be causing this due to facial expressions. So knowing minoxidil reduces collegen you can conclude that is causing it. However, Would that not make my other lines worse too? Iv'e had horizontal forehead lines like normal lines for a good 6 years now. Not gordon ramsey like, just shallow ones that Retina A could probably fix in under 6 months, they don't bother me at all. If the collegen in my forehead is getting worse, Shouldn't those lines be getting worse too? A part of me blames the minoxidil a part of me thinks if its the minoxidil deeper lines should be occuring everywhere. I also attributed lines under my eyes to minoxidil however Iv'e realized I get them from sleeping on my side and they go away during the day but this forehead line doesn't.

Might increasing consumption of a natural diuretic (coffee, black tea) work to counter minoxidil induced water retention?

Drinking for example more coffee or tea, or both? Together yes, maybe a little gross.

You have to sweat, drink plenty of water and a light diuretic like tea.

I have gained weight since taking min (Not related to minoxidil my diet has been ****) and haven't been working out at all. Would just working out and drinking more do it? I'm not a fan of teas or coffee.

minoxidil is starting to work on my crown (Im 4-5 months in atm) On my hairline its been a disaster. Iv'e gone from a nw1 slightly thinning to at the very least a 2 on the side im using it on. I know its the min doing it because the other side is still a nw1. I'd give up min on my hairline if i wasn't scared that giving it up there would mean no hairs would come back.

It was merely a suggestion (black tea, coffee). Unfortunately I have no idea if these mild diuretics would offer any real benefits for your "retention" concerns. I was hoping someone (like Resu) would interject.

are you guys sure it's retention? I'll post a pic soon. I know i didn't have these when i started min and it's not like they're shallow either i can see the indents in the mirror without looking for them. Should I stop min? Would steaming my face help?

It might be [h=1]Pseudoacromegaly[/h]

Secretlybatman, for pseudoacromelagy you would need to either overdose on topical minoxidil or take minoxidil orally - or else you would be the very first man in the world to have pseudoacromelagy from the maximum recommended dose of topical minoxidil. If unsure, however, go pay a doctor a visit. I wouldn't rule out the possibility completely, but it is very utterly extremely unlikely.
How much minoxidil do you use? I hope only 1 ml two times a day on your head?

What I consider much more likely is that you got a more extreme version of the typical minoxidil skin side effects, i.e. a combination of water retention and collagen breakdown. You should have a look at this thread which runs in parallel to yours where things are explained a bit: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interac...inimizing-countering-the-Minoxidil-skin-sides

Please don't misconstrue this as another alarmist's prematurely spewing admonishments of an ill fated demise for minoxidil. users. While it's very unlikely the point of my share applies to your concerns, I present it to you to avoid delving too personally into your health history and profile. Where you take it is always up to you. I think minoxidil.user's in general may find this a handy checklist to rule out any overlooked "compounders" flying under the radar. As an added measure of practicality, I would also try to schedule for some blood work and a thorough physical if you can, just to be sure ALL your bases are covered. Obviously this recourse is superfluous if you have done this all recently ( 2-4 months ago). Good luck. http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/minoxidil-topical.htm

BTW if the page "can't be found" you may try entering Drug interactions with topical minoxidil. If this fails well you probably see where I'm going with this. And no, I'm most certanly not suggesting you are abusing prescription drugs. Lol.

Nah I'm not on anything else. Could water retention really cause dent like lines? Would steaming my face help? My doctor isn't answering his damn email.

Water retention, inflammation etc.,?, Without a more thorough examination, it's hard to properly discern the causative or contributive factor(s). We know we can likely rule out drug interactive response. Listen if the good doctor is not responding and you can't/won't replace him you can always temporarily back off your minoxidil. treatment. Good luck.

How long were you on minoxidil? My face has already return to normal, no more puffiness around the eyes and the cheeks. I've applied around 24 or so applications and it took a week to return to normal.
