I completly agree with drhouse, you seem to have become quite paranoid (sp?), last week it was the bloated face on minoxidil, now the gyno on Propecia, two sides that people rarely got.

I would include the actual hair loss in the list of paranoia. I've seen no evidence of it either. It's very funny actually, from my perspective, when I see all these full heads of hair without a trace of balding making hundreds of posts. It really makes me think what these guys would have done 20 years ago without the internet, without finasteride, without dutasteride, without a hope.......except 2% minoxidil at $60 a month w/a prescription. I think a lot of Norwood 1.234 suicides would have occured.

you could take a pic of your breasts and post.

Well after you'll take a pic of your hair and post it, I might just do that.

Ok, so I'm paranoid... I guess I'm just dreaming the gyno. sh*t, I must've imagined it all including the constant breast ache and very noticeable breast growth I've experienced during this past year. Didn't know I was that crazy but thanks for clearing it up for me, Tallinn and Beaner. My hair is probably ok too and I'm imagining all the sides that come with balding, such as constant scalp pain + the fact that I have probably have half the hair I had year ago.

Do you guys really think I'd even consider dropping finasteride if I didn't have any sides? Like I explained earlier, finasteride is my only hope when it comes to dht blockers.

Do you work out with weights? Increase in volume of the pectoral muscle and sometimes nipple pain can occur simply because of this and is nothing to worry about.

Your hair looks fine, but whilst slight changes in density during your 20s are detectable by you, they are totally unnoticable to others.

By the way, I know a Finnish guy (Mika) here in London and he's lost most of his hair. He has a tattoo on one side of his head to compensate.

Yeah I work out but I didn't work out at the time when I started finasteride. And that's when the "breast" ache started. Wow, that Mika dude sounds like hardcore, I like that. Believe me, this isn't a "slight change of density" that's happening. My mother is very thin on top, her father lost his hair young and I have their hair type. It's obvious I'm going bald.

GHG, I would consult with your doctor to make sure what you have is gyno before you make the wrong decision for something you never had in the first place. Self diagnosis is not always a great choice when a doctor can always give you peace of mind to find out if your self diagnosis is correct. Second opinions always help Dr. GHG. By the way, from your picture I see no evidence of hairloss just a high forehead. Remember after 20 your hair starts to thin due to age.

All I know is that my nipple areas have been aching from time to time since I've been on finasteride, and there is a lot more tissue or fat around my nipples. That's all I know, I don't need a doctor to tell me that and he really couldn't either since he hasn't seen my chest before I started taking finasteride. My forehead has always been high, my hairline is still intact.

First I'm going to lower the finasteride dose to see if the breast soreness would go away. If it doesn't, then I'll have no choice but to drop the stuff.

The soreness isn't a good sign - that's certainly associated with gyno. On the other hand if you do experience gyno from Propecia, you'd have to be pretty unlucky. There's no figure for the incidence of this quoted in the product monograph; Rassman said it was "one in 300" on baldingblog!

I agree fully with Doctor House - go and get yourself diagnosed professionally as presumably your treatment approach will be very different depending on whether you have 'real' or pseudogyno. I think that you might be able to reduce pseudogyno with or without discontinuing finasteride but 'real' gyno will require surgery. :(

growhairgrow, looks on his avatar to have good hair but to say that he is imagining his hairloss is insane,GHG knows his hair better than any of us and if he thinks that he has lost half of his density then i beleive him,he is in a similar situation to myself when i tell people i am going bald they say where, but i have lost alot of hair in the past year.
I think it is a case that people are jealous of people that they think should not be on these boards until they are a norwood 7 or something

Haven't had the chest pain for a couple of days after lowering my finasteride dose even more. Now I cut the 5mg pill to about 10 pieces.

No need to stop the meds, just get some generic Anastrozole from United Pharmacies and take half a pill every four days :)

I haven't had the chest pain since lowering the dosage. The pain is really annoying let me tell you.

GHG it's good to hear that! Same happened to me, 1mg gave me bad sides especially chest pains and puffy nipples but everything looks normal on .33mg per day. I am on 2 month mark now and I hope that it's gonna be effective. I think that lower dose and no sides is better than no finasteride at all. I'm gonna give it a full year before making any judgements.

Excuse my English!!

why don´t you get a gynoplastia surgery? it would take away your boobs for ever and you can keep on with the finasteride.

Because it's too expensive in my current financial situation. I don't like the idea of surgery anyways, but I guess I'll have to do it later on.

so at 1/3 of recommanded dose, you are experiencing no sides at all?

RD yes no sides at all. The first week i got some increased oilyness on my forehead and some pain behind nipples but i gave it some time and everything returned to normal. It's two months since then everything goes fine so far (knocking wood). Im kinda shedding right now, but i know that finasteride works even at this small dose, because i had some tingling and crawling sensations on my male pattern baldness areas that disappeared since i took the first pill.
