Here is a topic: It has been reported that there are less side effects on dutasteride than finasteride.

For the sake of discussion, let's assume that this is completely true and not due to any research flaws or biases.

Is it because the increased T "makes up for" the lack of DHT? Or, could it possibly be that the increased aromatized T to E balances out the libido? Both?

What are your thoughts?

I took both for five years and if anything it made me feel more "manly". I think DHT isn't a big deal really in terms of most masculine attributes save hair and follicles and sweat glands and testicles. I think taking both could be great for libido.

Coping with Baldness Tip:

Buy regular Rogaine and then use it once and then fill it up with the cheap drugstore version. No one will know the difference, you will save $ and you can impress the guests into thinking you use the primo stuff if they open the medicine cabinet.

More Pics. So guys, even were I to shed now, this is my new baseline. I have proven that I can maintain this many follicles in a non-dormant state, i.e. people don't get worse on HRT usually so I am euphoric and ecstatic.

The biggest problem with feminising treatments is that they will lower your sex appeal.

You will have hair, but you will also be invisible to women due to feminisation.

If there is no way to stop balding, then get on steroids, human growth hormone and just hulkmaxxx.

Work on maintaining thick, dark eyebrows and strong beard and getting tanned and tatted.

It is what it is.
I think you are getting into class distinctions there. I assure you that none of the above are things among my "lawyer" friends, lol but maybe I should branch out.... I think working two jobs and buying chicks drinks is a better path for most. Chicks get friendlier after a few drinks....:)

Do Half-Lives Matter for HRT Dosing?

I am wondering if anyone has thoughts about whether a med's half life affects its efficacity. At least with HRT meds, I haven't seen any evidence that this matters except for "psychological" effects. I think that spikes might matter more than half-lives in terms of feminization and hair results.

New Pics and Breast Growth: Well, just remember that I am one in one thousand! I swear that nobody gets breast.growth like this, really ever. I can't see my feet anymore and they are constantly in my face. Are you supposed to be able to suck your own nipples? Terrible lighting. Feel like I have to throw that in!<winks>

The odds are highly against most people having any sort of significant breast growth and most are triple A or less. I promise. YMMV. I don't know if it comes through but I have it combed in more of a feminine style at and behind the ears. Much of the regrowth in the front doesn't come through very well. I look a lot ahem more like a dyke without the wig but I have a few more weeks to go before it completely frames and softens my features. It will be very gradual as we go forward and a lot of it will be more so losing most of the curl and increasing volume of the individual strands. I have noted before that there is a real canopy sort of appearance in the front in terms of how it is growing in. The new hairline is much lower than I had remembered so maybe it can slay most of my forehead. I am almost able to wear bangs which means that all I have to do to "comb" it now is just gently shake it and move it with my fingers and it stays.

I have appreciated the folks who have helped me develop this thread and it has provided me with a lot of creative interest in photography and telling stories. Visualizing nature and creation as female has helped me find the mindset where I know Goddess is behind me, right where I like it.

Interesting Article by Rob Winter:

How else might the microbiome be related to Androgenetic Alopecia?

There are other means by which the microbiome might be related to Androgenetic Alopecia, and it primarily has to do with metabolic health:

  • Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) usually also deal with female pattern hair loss (FPHL, female Androgenetic Alopecia) [42]. Both FPHL and PCOS are believed to be driven by excess androgens, which can be driven by poor blood sugar control — in which gut microbiome is believed to play a significant role [43, 44]. Thus, pathological alterations to the microbiome may contribute to FPHL. Studies in rats support this, demonstrating that certain diets may increase androgen production by way of microbiome changes. The opposite is also likely true: improvements to the microbiome may reduce androgen production and, in turn, improve FPHL. Interestingly, the same study that examined the effects of kimchi on male Androgenetic Alopecia also looked at its effects on female Androgenetic Alopecia [40]. They found that female Androgenetic Alopecia patients were actually more likely to respond to kimchi than men with Androgenetic Alopecia, lending support to the idea that a healthier microbiome may improve Androgenetic Alopecia, potentially by reducing androgen production.
  • Similar to PCOS and FPHL, studies show that early-onset Androgenetic Alopecia in men is associated with metabolic syndrome, a set of co-morbidities including hypertension, insulin resistance, and abnormal cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood [45]. Microbiome alterations are believed to contribute to metabolic syndrome, primarily through increases in low-grade inflammation [46]. Similarly, men with metabolic syndrome show improved lab markers after FMT, directly correlating with improvements to microbiome diversity and short-chain fatty acid production (indicative of an increased abundance of good bacteria). Collectively, the evidence suggests that adverse changes to the microbiome do appear to play a role in metabolic syndrome and that, conversely, improvements to microbiome health translate to improvements in metabolic health. The relevance to male Androgenetic Alopecia: increased systemic inflammation, which contributes to metabolic syndrome, might also accelerate Androgenetic Alopecia. As such, its possible that hair health may improve alongside metabolic health, subsequent to microbiome improvements.

In general, it’s important to note that research on the microbiome is still in its infancy. As such, we still have a lot of research to amass before we fully understand the microbiome, let alone how it affects our hair health.

Resultantly, this research should be treated as speculation. Moreover, you shouldn’t rely upon microbiome alterations alone to treat your hair loss.

So, don’t: forego treatments to solely work on microbiome health (until we better understand how to effectively leverage changes to the microbiome for hair growth).

Do: work on microbiome health while simultaneously targeting your hair loss with available, evidence-based treatments.
