Merck is a multi BILLION dollar company. They produce many prescription and OTC drugs. If they had a product to cure baldness 100%, do you realize how much money they would make and the publicity that the company would receive? Propecia is small small portion of Merck's income, especially when so many people are getting generics or proscar from over sea's. You guys are paranoid or crazy if you really think a company such as Merck would do something to that degree.

How much is this HM going to cost anyways? I mean, are we looking at $50,000 for a single procedure? I would kill for my hair back (quite literally  ), but I'm still a student so I don't have that kind of cheddar...

I think others have thrown around those kinds of numbers and at first
it may be that high but I would guess the cost will come down very quickly.
But if I could have thick hair and a 16 y/o hairline I'd pay 50K in a heartbeat.

Histogen said in one of their pdf's that they expect treatment with regenica for hair will cost $5000 at first.

haha, I am not as rich as casperz. I will pay up to 20k in a heartbeat for a 16 y/o hairline + densepack everywhere!

LOL... money is like hair... can't have too much. But seriously... 16 y/o
hair... I'd pay 50K... maybe more... how cool would that be to have
hair like that again.

If it works, I'll gladly pay $5000 for more hair.

I think I might cry.

A company figuring this out that is actually posting progress pics in no time.

I hope this isn't too good to be true!

Cross your fingers folks!

(cautious) Yipeeee!

It will happen some time. There already is a "cure", you just have to be willing to cut your balls off. I think that the problem is stopping the effects of DHT without harming your body at the same time.

I don't see that as a cure. You can stop hairloss now without castration
with massive doses of spironolactone but you are not guaranteed to get any re-growth.
Same with castration, it may stop it but that's it. The real cure is re-starting
the follicles that have shutdown or creating new ones through some type of
HM.

So I was thinking about this and though this might be a big speed bump in hair multiplication, maybe it's a good sign that skinmedica is suing. Couldn't this actually mean that these people are really on to something big? Big enough to sue over intellectual property?

Just a thought.... I'm going with that in order to remain optimistic lol :)

This is a very interesting development. The two patents that they allege to be infringed are:

http://www.google.com/patents?id=2ssKAA ... =6,372,494

and

http://www.google.com/patents?id=ZFN7AA ... =7,118,746

Gail Naughton, named defendent and CEO of Histogen is listed as an inventor. I imagine that it would be very unpleasant to prosecute someone for infringement of a patent that she invented. She will be intimately familiar with the prior art and the prosecution history, and if there were any screwups along the way, you can bet she'll remember them. And, if she does, you risk losing the patents.

Who's Histogen's counsel? I only saw that SkinMedica had WSGR, who they seem to have used in the past (and who prosecuted the '746 patent).

This won't take years. Both sides will file cross motions for summary judgment. The trade secret claim will probably get thrown out (if you've patented something, you don't get TS protection for it, that's the whole point of patents). Validity and infringement will not be decided on SJ, and neither side will want to go to trial (although Histogen has a lot less to lose). They will settle, or they will save themselves a few hundred K in legal bills and settle sooner rather than later. This is just about money. Histogen needs to raise money to continue developing, testing, and marketing a product. Skinmedica thinks they have a shot at shaking some money out of them. It's posturing.
