I went to the orthodontist this week for an invisalign consult. I'll be paying out $6100 over 18 months, with insurance maybe covering half.
What are you having done?

I'm from the UK where having wonky teeth is pretty normal - I suppose i'm lucky in that sense

For me it definitely has. The thing is , I know the impact view is more along the lines of the truth but anytime someone in real life says something about accepting hairloss or not letting it ruin your life I immediately just think of them as bullshit blue pill

Maybe the impact version is true but it for sure makes me have a worse outlook. At the same time , I like reading this forum because anywhere else you even talk about baldness it is super shameful. Even in a group therapy or something I am to embarrass to bring up hairloss

This condition really fucks with you...

Whatever realignment I can get from that technology (invisalign), will add a whitening program at some point.

Americans care a lot more about teeth. I generally notice that a lot of Aussies and Europeans have terrible teeth. Americans are obsessed though, slightly different looks standards. In Europe awful teeth are the norm. The teeth of the average European are like an orchestra where everyone is playing different music.

That said, online dating emphasizes facial attractiveness and downrates height, frame, body composition, body language, voice, smell, etc. Perfect teeth are to online dating today as six packs are to beach parties, raves, etc.

@Baldingat188 : +1

Nowhere else can I dream of talking about hairloss. People who don't suffer from it don't treat it as a real problem. Just a minor vanity issue. Sucks

I've literally never been more ashamed of something and it's outside of my control. I could never even think of revealing my hairloss to anyone other then my therapist or something. It's crazy how bad it makes you feel about yourself

Yeah, it sometimes creates a tunnel vision which makes us equate baldness with inceldom.

Obviously most poster in their 30s and 40s will no plenty of bald people who get laid or are in loving relationships.

Balding by itself is not a death sentence to me.

It's the addition of a receding hairline on top of my other problems.

If it were my only problem I would just shave it off.

Maybe there is a cultural divide because my teeth aren't great and I get dates from tinder - the only good thing is that they are white and the top row is straight - but I have a slight overbite and the bottom ones are a little crooked.

Just a little human imperfection, but maybe in America this is not acceptable to have a human physical fault.

I think there is something in that - baldness is okay so long as you don't have any major flaws elsewhere

A lot of human faults are accepted here, just the relative importance of teeth is higher.

It's standard for middle class teenagers to see an orthodontist.

To me , I definitely veiw balding as a death sentence. Maybe it's partly cause of this forum but it's also cause of my age

Sure I could just spend 20 years playing video games and being a hermit and then come back to the dating scene when I'm 40? Who the heck wants to do that

Balding sucks for everyone but I think I am one of the worst people to have it happen to. My hair is my identity and I've always cared about it even before balding. I would go from 6/10 to 2/10 as nw5+

Ummm, there's a good shot of it being cured within 3-5 years.

I feel like teeth is a minor imperfection people can overlook. Same with things like mild acne , big ears or whatever. Baldness completely changes your look perhaps the most of any one factor. I just don't see how any decent looking girl could look past that in their 20s
