How did you came up with those alcohol percentages? I want to mix RU with kirkland minoxidil , but I am not sure is that a good idea.

Excellent guide thanks for the effort!

I am going to be using a pen for cobblestoning/pitting and the scar from a failed hair transplant. Have you noticed any improvement or better appearance in the skin itself disregarding your follicles, but the actual texture of your scalp skin?

Thought we should wait at least 24 hours after rolling.

I'm also wondering about this. Won't applying topicals (or LiCl) while the scalp is raw potentially cause dermatitis?

I had allergies using liquid version of minoxidil, so now I use to foam. I think using the KB solution might be the best option for me

If it's any help, my regimen is to apply minoxidil foam first, let it dry, then apply RU in K&B.

The theory is that the dried minoxidil won't absorb any further, so applying a more gooey vehicle like K&B on top of it will soften the dried minoxidil and allow it to absorb some more.

Definitely would like some more opinions on this idea.

Awesome post bud!
Just a question, will i be aple to maintain the hair i have now using a 5% or 7,5% solution? I'm a 19 y/o dude and dermatologists dont want me to take finasteride yet, im too young for them.
Will i maintain my current nw2 status with this?

Great post, Hellouser. Where did you get the Vichy brand stemoxydine? I can't find any in the US other than Amazon or Ebay.

As a two year RU58841 user, I just want to add a few points:

  • Do not use lower than 5% solution. The studies showed a significant improvement in response going from 1% up to 5%. So 5% should be the minimum target dose. I'm now using 7.5% myself.

  • Propylene glycol is okay, but it can irritate a lot of peoples' skin. Dipropylene glycol is milder and causes less irritation with no changes in formulation.

  • Even better than propylene glycol & dipropylene glycol is Propranediol. I buy mine here. It dissolves most things as well or better than propylene glycol, and it's much softer, smoother, and silkier on the skin. I could never imagine going back to propylene/dipropylene glycol.

  • You are probably best applying any RU58841 solution twice daily, even though the studies only tested it as a once daily treatment. Minoxidil is most effective twice daily despite the fact that it has a 22 hour half life in the scalp. It's about soaking your follicles with the chemicals as often as possible for maximum results.

  • Like hellouser, I mix a small batch at a time. Personally, I do 40 mL at a time, which at 2-2.5 mL twice daily lasts me 7-10 days.
Appart from RU did u use something more to maintain your hair? Did you hold your hair 2 years just by usingnRU?

Does anyone get dry skin/scalp in the areas where wounding has taken place a few days to a week after each time? And any tips to reduce the dryness?

So if I understood correctly. Usually:

--> Exfoliate cream ---> Wash the hair --> wait for them to dry, and once they are do not wait longer than 30 min --> apply RU --> wait for it to dry --> apply minoxidil

Once a week:

--> Exfoliate cream ---> Wash the hair --> wait for them to dry, and once they are do not wait longer than 30 min --> dermaroll --> apply RU --> wait for it to dry --> apply minoxidil

Im using only 2% but because there is also finasteride, ket and adenosine in my lotion. Can you link study anyway?

Hey hellouser, great guide!
Can I use polish spirytus 96% instead of that grain alcohol?

Should be fine, as far as I know, polish spirytus is a grain alcohol as well.
