To the OP, I think you should get a hairpiece for the moment, shave the balding areas, you have good hair everywhere else on your head, wait it out, I was balding at a young age too and I went norwood 6,these kids don't listen, your hairloss could get worse over time like Joe Rogan and he has the big scar to prove it on the back of his head, and as much as I like fred he went the norwood 6 route too,it gets worse over time for most people, heed my advice.

Thanks for the advice, but a hairpiece is a no-no because everyone in my social circle would notice. I'm waiting for this damn finasteride to show some effect.

This January is the 4th month. I'll wait up to the 10th month to assess the situation and evaluate plan B's. I will keep you updated.

Are you only on finasteride?
I'm about the same age as you and I did finasteride for 6 months, and went below baseline. Then I started minoxidil aswell. Now 2 years later I'm at about the same place I was when I started minoxidil.

Have you worn a hair piece? If not, then don't recommend one.

I have worn one, and they are absolute sh*t. Not an option unless you're NW6-7 .. basicallY BALD.

Yes. Took the first one on October 1st.

One year ago I tried some Keto but it permanently thinned my hair tremendously. I remember a funny thing: a long, blond hair grew from my upper forehead while on Keto. I found it very amusing.

I'm prone to aggressive seborrheic dermatitis. This means I get very inflamed and flaky head with a lot of dandruff. It's entirely hormonal since it began in teenage. It definitely has to do with my hair loss and it stops me from trying minoxidil. I will probably try though it because I'm getting desperate.

Another funny anectode: coffee treats my dandruff like no shampoo has ever done. I put grounded coffee on my head once a week and it completely stops my dandruff. I think it has to do with the proven anti androgenic effect of caffeine because I can't explain it. I just tried and it worked. If I stop doing it, dandruff comes back quickly by the next week.

I think we are pretty similiar I thought I should never use minoxidil aswell because of itchy scalp. My scalp was so itchy before I realised I had male pattern baldness. I had actual wounds on my scalp, I might have fucked my scalp up and hair wont grow where I had wounds, not sure. Went to a general practitioner with this got prescribed some shitty shampoo, didn't work at all. (Most doctors are f*****g clueless).
Then a few months later I went to a private dermatologist and got prescribed finasteride. Tried this out for 6 months, and went slightly below baseline. Then I started minoxidil and my scalp is actually feels better now, less male pattern baldness itch and less dandruff.
I would recommend trying minoxidil foam, I wish I started both finasteride and minoxidil earlier..

I'm trying it then. I went below baseline too this month. I want to add that I do scalp exercises naturally when I'm alone, they feel good and they made me more 'aware' of my scalp. I can move my ears like a donkey now and my scalp moves like I have a shitty wig. lol

What the f*** man, I'm f*****g raging now. f*** this sh*t. One day we'll get back what's ours. Never stop believing.

That's crazy I do the same thing, got pretty desperate and learned that from some videos with this old dude. I do it whenever my scalp is feeling tight. (And no one is watching).

I had the same when I was a kid. It got worse than just flakes, I had crust on my scalp. Nasty stuff. It got so bad I had to use prescriptions drops to get rid of it. Since then I pretty much had to use some kind of anti dandruff shampoo, but more than just the Head and Shoulders stuff. I have been using minoxidil and the flaking can get pretty bad sometimes. I won't even get into the itching. I would still recommend it though since I believe it has made a positive difference for me.

What happened to Rick, did he get banned? Seemed pretty cool.

I doubt it i dont think they really ban people unless its about false hair loss information/fear mongering.

Two of the worst offenses in my book.

I classmate in uni called me Trevor Philips from GTA V. I died inside and faked a laugh.
Well that is a tad extreme but we know how people behave in front of other people's shortcomings...

definaltely wait a year mate. im pretty sure that standard advice for finasteride. i had lots shedding early on, but got great regrowth after a year

also i was serious about dermmatch. you could def make that thinning area less noticeable. its just behind the hairline which is huge advantage plus you have random curly hair. you can def make it look better. or maybe toppik too, i never liked the stuff, maybe you would. i say buy a couple of each and try

How long did you try Ket. Your symptoms seem positive (first thinning).
minoxidil Foam is an option like a member above suggest it.
Or you can try minoxidil Liquid (without PG), or with low alcohol.

To Shookwun, I have worn a hairpiece before, at my age your stock goes up, bald or not.
But in your 20's it's hard to go bald, this is the age where you should consider dating, getting a higher education and social climbing to name a few things. The thing about hairloss in your 20's is you can't estimate when your hair loss is going to stop or get worse.
