I haven't had enough time for a recovery. And I cannot say how much of the damage can be attributed to dropping e2 vs starting dutas, as I did this at the same time.
My current regiment is: 1 mg estrogel on hairline and scalp, 1 mg finasteride, 100 mg spironolactone, topical minoxidil (all 1 x day). Microneedling 1x week. I also just got some topical progresterone and may tinker with that. I'd like to get a few more positive stories with prog first though.
Dutasteride only gives temporary shed.. Most likely dropping of E2 is worsening your result. Why did you stop E2? Were you experiencing feminising side effects?

I have been taking 25mg a week of cypro. Is it possible to take these for growth for a year and then use dutasteride to maintain?

I would say yes. Miniaturisation is generally a very slow process; those people who lose hair very fast often have telogen effluvium with Androgenetic Alopecia at the initial stage. Using duta, you should slow the progression even more. I would recommend you still take cypro once or twice a week though.

CPA won’t lead to regrowth, it will lead to things reaching a halt. It lowers your T and E, which means the possibility of regrowth is lessened. CPA is more so your maintenance medication (it’s similar to castration, where you are stopping your possibility of ever going bald), whereas dutasteride will maintain for a numbered amount of years until things start going south,

If you are taking CPA, you should use oral minoxidil in my opinion, whilst avoiding dependence on it.

I have been using topical minoxidil. But my oral minoxidil should be arriving soon. I will be taking 5mg/day.

I was on it for two months. It was definitely doing SOMETHING, because I had a bunch of white vellus hairs sprouting up everywhere (on my temples anyway. I couldn't really see them on my scalp. This could just be due to lighting or whatever, not sure.) by that point. My hair hadn't improved in a cosmetically significant way, but after only two months that would be an absurd expectation anyway. However, I was suddenly hit with pretty bad increased heart rate that really negatively affected my sleep, chest pain, and pretty bad pain in my kidneys that lasted for about a week after I stopped. I still am getting slight pangs in my heart at times now but they seem to be going away.

IDK. It affects everyone differently. I just say start smaller and then, if you feel your body is tolerating it, up the dosage if you want and very carefully watch for warning signs.

When you say you regrew all your hair. You literally mean all, like to NW0?

Did you ever consider using E3 instead of E2 since it's less feminizing? It should work just as well on the hair since it has a stronger affinity for ERb, and ERb seemingly promotes anagen while ERa promotes catagen.

I had diffuse thinning so my hairline was never that bad and now that it is thick again I am NW0. My hairline was about to disappear though all I could grow on my temples was peach fuzz that wouldn't grow past a quarter inch.

Yes I did consider using E3 actually I was using some before E2. I didn't take it very long maybe a month or more until I switched. I didn't have much confidence in it and I felt like I didn't have anymore time to waste. If my hair loss wasn't so bad I would have had more patience and tried E3 for longer. Maybe I should try it again. It's just not as proven for hair regrowth.

I'm really considering trying something like this in 6 months if I am not getting where I want to be. Looking at these transition timelines on reddit is scaring me away from it. https://www.reddit.com/r/transtimelines/ It's amazing how much some of these people have changed in a short period of time.

Sorry for the question

But with the abbreviations I don't understand myself

What do you mean by E2 and E3?

Sorry and thanks.

E2 is Estradiol E3 is Estriol which are 2 of the 3 types of estrogen. It's pretty easy to get estriol online or over the counter at a drug store. Estradiol is the more powerful kind which usually requires a prescription.

I understand the hesitation. I spent months thinking about trying this before I actually did it. And I know those transitions freaked me out too but if you do it carefully there should hardly be any changes to your face. My face looks pretty much exactly the same as before I started. I think I maybe look slightly younger that's all.
