Your risking shame and embarrassment from your friends and peers, co-workers. For as shameful as being bald already is, it is ten times worse if you try to cover it up or do anything about it outside of shaving it. For the most part society is not accepting of men wearing wigs and in fact mocks them to no end. That is what sucks so bad about being bald, the helplessness of it... your damned if you do/don't so you have to live your life in this range of limbo, never feeling quite normal. It is a compromised existence.

I guess the frustration it is only on your mind...really...people don't care about your hair.and if the piece is realistic no one in this world will ever know unless you told them.I never paid attention to people's hair and never thought that baldness could be such a pain in the *** untill this happened to me. I am at the point where I hate concelears and I am thinking to try this route...in fact the next week I will try it and I will let you know if you wish about this experience!

^ Well if your hairloss is at a point where no one can tell you're balding, then go for it. I was at that point like 4 years ago but now that everyone sees that I'm balding it would raise a lot of questions if I'd suddenly walk around with a full set.

Nobody know that I am balding after spending 2 hours in the bathroom to conceal and style my hair...but I am fed up with this...plus my hair style sucks...it is not what I would like to have ...at least with hair replacement you can have a good haircut and nice style...you only have to keep it natural looking.

Yeah, thats the horrible thing with balding and one of the thing I hate most.
To manage baldness in secrecy and shame.

I am thinking of doing the following: wear wigs at certain times and not at certain time, like a style or accessory. Make it clear that I'm not hiding baldness.
Eg., in winter I could wear the wig and say my head feels cold (true) and I'm bored with just one style (true).
In summer, wig off and sly.

yea...it's all about attitude...personally I wouldn't do that...and I will wear it non stop...but I guess if the thing looks really good and I will not feel embarassed if somebody will discover me wearing...really...once you don't care about it . i am pretty sure you' ll be relaxed and live life ...but I will do this only if it looks good and natural...of course I can not be relaxed with something that looks bad on me :)

I'm 25, 5'4'', and about a NW3, which was way worse than it is now 1 year ago. Last year I was left by my ex-girlfriend of two years. At that point I was grossly overweight, balding very quickly, had lost almost all of my friends, and had a variety of health problems.

Instead of wallowing in self pity ALL the time like some of you guys do, I started improving everything about myself that I could. This was not just cosmetic stuff like weight and clothes, but also mental issues like depression and lack of social ability.

In about 6 months I managed to go very far on my journey, I lost weight, bought nicer clothes and kick-started my social life. My hair, however, took a dive during that time. Even though my hair at that point looked "OMG, it's so thin" (quote from a female friend of mine) , I STILL managed to hook up with some girls, some of which were quite attractive. A bigger number of girls flirted with me, and I had a couple of good lookings girls come onto ME as well.

I am now in a relationship with a cute, albeit slightly overweight, 19 year old girl, who doesn't mind my hairloss one bit. I know plently of friends my age who are balding as much as I do or more, who also have no problem finding girls. I also know very good looking guys who are still virgins at 25 years old.

This is not just because of looks, but also (and I'm saying also because looks DO matter, just not as much as some guys think) because of how you present yourself, and how confident you are/act.

Oh and HPM, my girlfriend is about 5'8''. She doesn't care about my baldness, or my height. Stop convincing yourself that it's all that matters.

Re: The wig, it depends on the company you keep. If your buddies/workcolleagues are immature or bitchy or shallow they'll have a feild day.

Although IMO a hair piece is a bit extreme,,if it is a professional, natural looking piece,go fot it.It will hopefully prevent the wearer from a life of ridicule, discrimination, and exclusion.
