If you haven't already, watch this short movie on the deaths of ww2. Really shocking stuff! Highly worth a watch.
Poor Russia.
I read once that there was a survey done in France just after the war and most French said Russia were most vital for defeating Germany. But a similar study was done more recently and the US had risen above Russia, in what they thought of as important for defeating Germany. Wish I could find it. Shows how much film/movies have had an affect, I think was the conclusion.
I'm Irish so kind of have to shut my mouth about these things

The Brits did well, yes, and thank god they did.
But the British alone opening up the entire Western front and driving the Nazis back to Berlin?
It ain't happening.

Now imagine that prior WW2 we had WW1 with huge losses due to moronic Imperor and civil war with 20+ millions of dead.
Eventually we got this event where most of prominent military commanders were executed or rot in jail:

I think historically the British army has won the most wars over the past 500 years - we literally owned a third of the world - obviously we gave it back because we felt guilty, but still.
The French army were pretty handy back in the day but ww1 turned them into a nation of cowards - it broke their national spirit.
Germans are brave but they always lose in the end.
Russians are like the Chinese - if you kill one they break in half and two pop out. That's why its okay to kills chinks and slavs (joking!)
