Thanks for the info.

So would you say I’m male pattern balding ?

When you say the whorl is too far towards the front what do you mean ?

I’m currently on half a table of finasteride a day so 0.5. I used to question if I just took them for placebo affect but I genuinely think Im now showing signs of losing .

I see now that you sort of have a pompadour. How chic! Post a face pic with your hair down and we will tell you whether you are attractive enough not to need hair. Such people do exist janey says.

this is this morning, straight out of bed and under the harsh lighting in bathroom ... think it definitely looks like like crown thinning

I use ten times that much finasteride plus I use dutasteride at .5mg. How are your finances? I used to only recommend one or the other but some people have insurance plus we don't know entirely how these two meds work. Dutasteride has only been tested for prostate cancer, I believe so it's not FDA-approved for hair but eh you pays your money and you takes your chances. You could try topical min and also start drinking it twice daily if you want to be completely happy. That might fill in any recessed places and maybe the place on top.

You’re thinning in the crown, without a doubt

Thanks everyone . Yes I pretty much think the same , thinning on crown . I used to go between is it just my whorl or is it balding ...

Currently on 0.5 mg of propecia daily and have been the last 3 years . Would you suggest going up to 1mg? Would it promote regrowth?

Just taken a few under artificial light right this minute when the hair is following the whirl pattern... still looks balding to me ...

You absolutely cannot diagnose any form of hair loss during its early stage on a forum, not even with a bunch of photos, and certainly not with photos taken during the same time.
We can say what it looks like, we can shoot a big target in the dark, but never take medications without having been confirmed what it is by a derm.

Best case scenario: You have Androgenetic Alopecia and you should take propecia, but you'll approach your treatment full of doubt.
Mild case scenario: You don't have any hair loss, and you're just wasting your money and may get unpleasant side effects for a month or three at worst.
Worst cases scenario: You actually loses hair but for another reason, and your hair loss keep progressing.

I don’t get it .

Are you saying I’m being passive aggressive ? If so , I honestly haven’t meant to be .

Genuinely concerned.

Thank you to all those who responded.
Don’t listen to this utter sh*t mate, you are not balding and your crown is fine. At 34 you will have the same hair now chances are well into your 50s/60s. The way I can tell it’s not balding at the crown is the thickness and shine you have, if you had miniaturisation, your hair wouldn’t look like that!

Uhhh wait, I didn’t see these photos, it does now in fact look like crown thinning, if you jump straight on Avodart 0.5mg this will fill back in for you in 6months time. This is kinda what my crown used to look like and now it back to full thickness, not just my crown but almost my hairline as well. Good luck

Could I not just go to 1mg of propecia ? Instead of avodart?
Raise it to 1mg and maybe start minoxidil, your scalp looks pretty red too, maybe it's just from moving your crown hairs a lot or it is inflammation.

I don’t want to go down the minoxidil route as too sticky and requires too much attention... do you think the 1mg cld work on its own?

Could just be bed head?

It was straight from bed but I don’t think bed head would reveal that much scalp on a non balding individual ...

1mg won't grow it back, I think finasteride is just slowing your hair loss and not halting it unless your crown has looked like this since starting finasteride 3 years ago and you're only just noticing it.

I’ve never been on 1mg, I’ve always taken 0.5mg.
If you click on my posts you’ll see pics from years ago when I started 0.5mg.

Trying drinking topical minoxidil. Takes seconds without any muss or fuss and it works several times better for many/most people.
