Sorry to arrive to this late. Does this mean we call forget about finasteride now and should go and order 2g seti? I have to decide on one or the other. Current photo attached.

Personally I would say if you don’t mind taking a chance on finasteride with side effects, do that first. Some people get them, some don’t. If finasteride isn’t an option then I would go for Seti, but it is very expensive

finasteride sides do concern me. are seti sides if any documented? also i want a half decent chance of regrowth/thickening in crown and temples. i've been losing for 15 years and finally fed up.

The only Seti sides I know of are dryer skin and insomnia. Again, some people get them some don’t. If I were you I would try finasteride and if you see any side effects drop it immediately. Don’t “ride out” the sides, I tried and I’m still slowly recovering almost 3 months later after quitting. Finasteride can be a miracle for some and a nightmare for others

Thanks for the advice. When you say don't ride out sides does that include ball ache after a couple of days? I have attempted and aborted twice before due to bad ball ache. If that was a common side and no cause for concern you would think they would put that on the leaflet.

From my experience and what I’ve read, pretty much everyone gets ball ache. I did too at first and it was gone after a few days. Then about 2 months later the other sides started happening. So give it a fair shot, and if it isn’t working out use Seti as a back up. This is just my advice though, do what you feel is right for you

can you post some more pics of your vertex. I think you would be a perfect candidate for seti, if you could afford it that is. You have to do 2g/day or dont bother with it at all.

My advice for those with @spooon level of baldness is to get on seti or if you dont mind finasteride for 1 more year untill we can get our hands on Fevipiprant in 2019

Is there any literature that discusses side effects for Seti? I'd be really worried about it (or the impurities) causing something awful like kidney or liver failure.

Any chance that seti will become cheaper in the near future? Really interested in trying it.

To everyone thinking you need high doses, I think you do not.

I'm on 200mg/day and get maintenance from that. Most important is to split the dose (because of half life), I take 100mg morning and evening.

Also it takes some time to stabilize, for me it took 1-2 months. Like fina, most people experience a shedding first.

And if it's not enough, up the dose, that simple.
Orally or topic?

No ball ache from finasteride here. No noticeable side effects for at least 10 years of use, either.

Does this mean we call forget about finasteride now

spooon - It's funny, 10 years ago I don't remember anyone claiming that finasteride permanently ruined their dick. Now it's The Big Fear(tm). WTF happened? It used to go like this:
1. Acquire finasteride. Take for 6 months and evaluate results.
2. Get gyno? stop.
3. Get low libido? maybe stop, maybe tolerate it.

If I'm the ignorant one here, please correct me. However we keep seeing more posts of young guys thinking that finasteride is some big scary gamble, and the fear doesn't seem justified. I mean FFS the fear didn't even used to exist.

... and should go and order 2g seti? I have to decide on one or the other

You know what is a gamble? Taking high doses of experimental drugs. If you think finasteride is so risky but it took 15+ years for us to figure that out, what the hell are you doing considering a drug that we barely know anything about? And 2g... that's 2000mg per day. Of an experimental, unreleased drug with a barely-known side effect profile. Compared to 1mg of something that we know a lot about, that millions of people take every day.

We all want hair, but let's just try to use our heads.

For those taking orally, do you just put the powder in gelatin caps, or dissolve it in a solvent like ethanol? I imagine stomach acid will break it down without the need of a solvent.
