I have not noticed much 3 weeks in. I had that strong shed that lasted around 3 days in now I seem to shed less but still seems to look worse on a weekly basis. I'm using apolactoferrin at 10 mg / mL, and it's making me wonder if I should bump up the concentration.

May I ask why you use Apolactoferrin (instead of lactoferrin?)

I couldn't find the brand of lactoferrin everyone else was using since I was looking on Iherb as they're the only ones that don't charge exorbitant shipping like all these other sites. And all they had was Apolactoferrin, and the other lactoferrin brands had nasty excipients which I wasn't sure how I was going to filter.

Besides, someone here said they should work the same, but I have no idea.

Anyway I'm seeing vellus on my temples that definitely wasn't there before, and it's even vaguely visible, but I lost a lot of terminals so I'm still at a net loss. I'm not getting too excited about the vellus though because we know those rarely mature into terminals :(

If that vellus is really new it looks promising!

I was wondering if your hair also gets really dry/hard after application of the lactoferrin? I am over 3 weeks in now and do not seem to experience any of the things reported here (new vellus or shedding), wondering whether absorption may be hindered by the higher concentration 80-100mg/ml I am using..

I don't get anything like that, but as I mentioned I am only using 10 mg/mL.

From what I understand it reaches the follicle through pathways in the skin around the hair shaft.

The proposed formula has stability for 6 months:

"For commercialization of bLF, another paper [15]
showed that bLF in the new liquid formulation, containing
1mg/mL bLf, 1.74mg/mL arginine, 15% (w/v) trehalose,
and 0.02% (v/v) Tween 80 in 100mM sodium phosphate
buffer at pH 6.5, was stable under various storage conditions
for 6months."

How are people getting the 200mg/ml of lactoferrin? If they mentioned this formula then for a 60ml solution it'd be:

60mg lactoferrin
104.4mg arginine
9ml trehalose
1.2ml polysorbate 80
59.8ml distilled water

That formulation was irrelevant to the study. It was mentioned only to note for future application that lacoferrin can be stabilized and put in topical form with a reasonable shelf life. They used 300mg/ml lactoferrin in the study.

I bumped up to 20 mg / mL because I am still shedding uncontrollably, despite being on this and RU58841...

I hope that this works at a lower dosage than in the study, because 300 mg / mL means you will be using 30 capsules per 30 mL - a single bottle is 60 capsules. That means you can only make 2 batches with a single bottle of LEF lactoferrin... if a batch lasts ~10 days that means you'll be buying a $40 USD bottle of lactoferrin every 20 days or so. Pretty expensive experiment.

300 mg/ml isn't doable in real life. The lotion will get so sticky and leave much residue in hair. The most I got was 80 mg/ml and I can't recommend such dosage.

Hang in there with the shedding. The increased shedding lasted three weeks in my case. I'm back to "regular" shedding (pre LF) at the moment.

Problem is, I'm pretty sure this is just classic Androgenetic Alopecia progression shedding. Just looks too much like "my baldness is simply getting worse" instead of "I'm shedding weak hairs which will be replaced by stronger ones in 2-3 months" (wishful thinking)

I can't take 3 weeks of this stuff, my head is already seethrough in sunlight.

I guess if someone's hair loss was stable on antiandrogens and then they start taking this and start shedding, I could believe that it would result in thicker hair, but this way, I have no way of telling if it's just getting worse or it's the lactoferrin.

And RU58841 is obviously too weak for me to hold back the hair loss...

Did finasteride help for you?

Sorry about that. You know best about your hairloss. Like you, I was shedding mostly thick, terminal hairs with a few minitiurized hairs per day. I hope it will get better for you too.

Helped me become a brain fogged asexual betacuck with man boobs.

Yeah, I'll keep it up, it just seems nothing other than harsh antiandrogens stops the shedding, now not even RU is enough. I know I have to add more things, but terminals are coming out daily, and I'm in panic mode.

You on a regimen to fight your pfs?

Yes, it's one of the reasons my hair is going to complete sh*t lately. I have no choice though. The past 3 years I've been barely functional sexually, but even worse than that is the brain fog which makes me feel retarded on a daily basis and this is completely unacceptable when you make a living with your mind (programmer).

How would you describe the brainfog that you are experiencing?

Sorry to hear this man. I have issues with brain fog and know how debilitating it can be. Though mine is caused mainly by heavy metals and never taken finasteride.
Have you had a full hormone panel done?
