Minoxidil side effects (wrinkles, dark circles) and alternative

Nobody got those sides because they don't exist, they have never been documented at all and you don't seem to know how clinical trials are conducted.
That is a lie, Fred, and you know it. Repeating it over and over again doesn't make it true. I've listed clinical evidence of this effect occuring with oral minoxidil earlier in this thread, and I've linked in-vivo studies that observed collagen inhibition with topical minoxodil which, as every more or less educated person knows, leads to wrinkles.

20 mins pffft, you know that's hogwash. Anytime I randomly log on here, I see you online, and your posts keep increasing. Funny though, you also roll through different threads that clearly are irrelevant to you. You don't have wrinkles? Then get out of here.

What do you mean nobody you retard? Tons and loads of forum posters mentioned wrinkles and skin side effects, that's considered no one?

Let me put this in perspective for you, since you are too thickskulled to see that. Everyone has the right, according to your logic, to complain about the things that annoy them, I'm annoyed by wrinkles, and I want them gone, simple as that. I also want to keep using minoxidil. This is why I'm here. You're here though to derail every damn thread that's irrelevant to you. I don't go to your ****ty forum posts where you complain that you can't get your willy wet and tell you how pathetic you are. Don't we have the right to complain about the ****ty medications and how ****ty the side effects are? See, your argument collapses on it's own.

Hahahaha, there are no emotions, I just like insulting you, because when it comes to people like you, logic, reasoning and rationality aren't the cards to play, as you clearly can't keep up with that. To me, it seems that you're the dysfunctional psycho that rampages through the forum, -repping anyone who disagrees with them.

After they read about minoxidil supposedly giving wrinkles. In every case. Placebo effect, they started to see things.

Not really in my case, as I stated before, I just recently 22, prior to minoxidil usage I had none whatsoever, within a month time span I started getting them, my skin was all screwed up at that point, and the only change in my life at that time was minoxidil, it doesn't take a genius to tell.

I've been noticing the wrinkles and dark circles too. I know it's the minoxidil, because I didn't have it before. There are a lot of people with the same side effects, a lot.

Nope, in fact before minoxidil somebody complemented me of not having that many wrinkles around me eyes. She asked me what I did to get rid of them, told her just lucky. After minoxidil, people ask me if I'm not sleeping well, because of the dark circles under my eyes. Also noticed the wrinkles, that's when I started looking up if minoxidil was the cause, since that was the only change in my daily routine. I'm still using minoxidil, but I'm considering quitting since I don't see any improvements anyway. If it really regrew a lot hair, I probably still use it.

All I can say is whatever. You seem to have a lot of issues with your balding.

This is outrageous. I can't go to any forum talking about Minoxidil side effects without mentioning dark circles and wrinkles underneath the eyes. Yes, Minoxidil can cause side effects, but not wrinkling. There's no scientific evidence that Minoxidil can cause wrinkling, and also never mentioned as a side effect in any clinical studies that have been done using this medication. I've been using Minoxidil for a while and I haven't had any wrinkling of any kind, and no darkening circles underneath my eyes whatsoever.

I do have issues about it, but I'm not being rude to everybody on this site because of it. So what, maybe you didn't have side effects, lucky you. Other people like me did, all we are trying to say is that you may have side effects like dark circles or wrinkles. You don't have to snap at everybody for not having the same opinion as you.

I don't need to prove you anything. I might not know much about minoxidil, but I do know my body. So if I see wrinkles and dark circles after using minoxidil, then I know it's the minoxidil causing it.

I'll believe you if you're getting side effects from Minoxidil because that can happen, but wrinkles cannot be one of them. There's no scientific evidence that Minoxidil can cause wrinkles.

And it would never occur to you that you might just simply getting old and like women, you get wrinkles more easily?

Sure, but not within a few weeks of using minoxidil.

i don't need a scientific report to know it caused my dark circles and wrinkles.

Right! You got wrinkles in a few weeks! I know women who are heavy smokers who didn't get fine wrinkles before years of smoking.

It's like the guys who claim they've see regrowth in a few weeks after using treatments.

Well maybe they do, I think they're a better judge of that then you or anybody else.

So what? Soy is estrogenic, does that mean men that eat it all get boobs and erectile dysfunction? Of course not, because there's no reported scientific data about it.

Minoxidil does inhibit collagen production, but does it mean people who use it will develop wrinkles? Of course not, because there's no reported scientific data about it.

Yeah, soy is estrogen-ic, which in men, estrogen turns to androgens. You admit that it inhibits collagen, do you even know what your skin is made off? lol. Your argument collapsed on it's own there.

Not everyone responds in the same way too. I've seen tremendous results from other people that I know who have used minoxidil, very rapid results and growth. It just depends how you respond to the medication. What I think, is that minoxidil didn't actually work for you. If you experienced no sides, most likely it didn't, then it would be in your head thinking that it actually worked for you. According to the studies, minoxidil roughly has 2/3 ratio of being effective. Maybe you're that one third.

Ohh, and I love how you want us to prove it to you. What? Do you think we need your approval or something?

Can someone please get a photo of his dark circles supposedly from minoxidil ??

i use it for about 5 years now and never had any thing like dark circles and wrinkles.
i only have sometimes kinda feeling of my pulse in my head,
i see other reasons for wrinkles such as lack of water drinking, high sodium intake, low protein and fats intake, lack of movement etc

I've been using 2.5 mL per application (2x per day) for a little over a week and I woke up today with a bloated face and bags under my eyes. I'll drop the dose to 1 mL twice per day instead of lathering my entire scalp with a thick film of it. I might have to tinker to find my ideal dose as well.

I am assuming that the bags are due to either fluid retention or vasodilation. They went away after the morning though.

benjt,

if minoxidil has a half life of 22 hours, why would it take 2 weeks for you to develop bags under your eyes? There shouldn't be a difference in the minoxidil build up in your skin between 1 and 2 weeks. Like you said, the effects subside after 3 days due to its half life. So they should only take 3 days to reappear.

I think mine took just over a week to appear because I wasn't applying it properly to start and a lot of it was just coating my hair.

Emm, I don't think that's how it works, not all of the applied minoxidil goes in systematically. Maybe just a fewer amount has been absorbed.

If you have dark circles do you feel the skin around the eyes tighter? Do you feel that your eyes are tired? What other symptoms you experience?

I got it recently from lack of sleep but they aren't circles, it's just the bottom of the eyes that has "sunken" in a bit where the eyes meet the nose. Could be minoxidil too, you never know.

I have played a lot with different doses, and I currently am back at approx. 1.5 ml total per day (maybe a bit less - usually, I apply only once now) and no side effects so far. As I experienced sides at 2 ml total per day (2 applications, each 1 ml), I will not go higher than this and consider it to be my safe dose.

Has anyone tried wearing a glove when applying it? I'm wondering if systemic absorption through the hands could be greater than through the scalp.
Only used the applicator for spreading it all over my scalp, i.e. no contact of minoxidil and hands.
