Ah, Pale Ale is bitter....An education is taking place here!
I didn't know that because I'm no fan of the taste of bitter/pale ale and don't really drink it.
Stella in America, i'm not surprised...seems the most popular commercial beers are not as nice as the less commercial ones Aplunk.
How about 'Mild'? as in, 'i'll have a pint of Mild please'...it's a black guiness looking like drink that was served next to Bitter in the old man's pub I worked in 10 years ago, and if you mixed the two you'd get a drink called a 'Mickey Mouse' like mixing larger and cider and getting 'Snake bite'
