Damn, the hair looks good in the last photo. Your hairline looks good. I knew a few people in HS that had the same NW2-ish headline. sh*t I know some women that have it worse! You might not be thrilled by not being a NW1, but women don't overly care about perfect hairlines.
Thanks bro. I feel a lot better after the trim. To be honest I’m not concerned with how my hairline is at the moment. The way I style my hair covers it anyway so that doesn’t matter to me. It’s the thinning in the crown and everywhere else that bothers me.
Hey mate I had a quick look through your thread. I have to say this is a very good starting point on medication and I doubt you'll experience true visible balding, finasteride will stabilise you for sure. If you lose a little bit in the future you can have a transplant easily. Your crown definitely has some loss which is more apparent when it's wet but again it looks quite full when dry. My starting point was better on the crown but I can say treatment will hold your hair and may be regrow some. I have no idea how your hairline looks or if you need to do a transplant here but you're in a good position - good hair overall for 20s and beyond.
Thanks for your input! Unfortunately I believe I’m already at the visible balding stage in my crown... Without toppik I have a lot of scalp showing back there, especially if I have greasy hair (and obviously wet). I’m quite happy after that trim, I’m not sure if you’ve seen my pics before the trim, but it was attrocious. I was really struggling to get it cut because 1) I’m very thin up there when it’s wet and I was extremely embarassed for a hair dresser to see it. And 2) I thought my thinning would be more visible after the haircut but thankfully it’s not!

and me since i have started fina/duta, i have to start to learn coping with this new issue wich is puffy nipples/gyno... and this is not easy...
for you it took times to get used to it? ( given the fact i never had this during puberty)

you had gyno in the past too from fina, right? How did hou solve it then? Was it pretty bad?

you might get good result according to the studies because you seem to have a lot of body hair ( pic on page2).
No side effect such as gyno/puffy nipples with it ?
Whats the deal with the body hair man do people with more body hair respond better to finasteride or dutasteride?

There have been a few studies on the subject but the sample sizes have been small.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3969676/

"One possible explanation would be that finasteride is more effective for patients who are under a stronger influence of androgen. In those patients, higher levels of androgen would exist in hair follicles, resulting in hair loss on their head but they remain pileous [hairy] in other parts of their body. Finasteride is thought to have better effects in these “androgen-rich” Androgenetic Alopecia patients."

Okay so here’s a little update. Alnost 5 months on finasteride. Hair is worse than ever. Today I put some tea tree oil in my hair for the first time (for inflamation) and it made my hair look way worse than water does. This is the worst I’ve ever seen my hair.

I can cover it a lot better when it’s dry and toppik is applied (pics attached). But with this sh*t in my hair, it’s easy to tell the extent of my thinning.

I’m not sure what to do now. I guess I’ll continue with finasteride and maybe add in some minoxidil, but I’m not exactly sure if that’ll help.

Quick reminder, I’ve only noticed my hair loss for the first time in May, with very slight crown thinning and an extremely dense head of hair everywhere else.

Yo man, I looked at the pics from this post and the pics from your first post, and I've got to let you know that you can see definite improvement on your crown. Hands down. Your 'bald' spot has definitely shrunk. I think taking pictures of one's hair every day or every couple of days really skews things and makes it difficult to see your hair's progression or regression. At least it has for me. You've made progress.

Thanks, at the same time, I have lost a crazy amount of density everywhere else. To be honest, I don’t think the photos are doing justice.

Here’s an update. I got my blood work back and only my DHT and total/free test seem to be applicable to hair loss. My DHT has been absolutely nuked and basically nonexistent but my total and free test are in range.

What can we surmise about this?

I believe I’m still thinning out so what can be a next step?

Also would there be any point in switching to dutasteride considering my DHT is so low?

holy sh*t, just 1mg of finasteride was able to bring you DHT that low? What was the results for estrogen?

Unfortunately my estrogen wasn’t tested, she fucked up on that one cause I did specifically asked for it. So dutasteride really shouldn’t be necessary right?

Also surprisingly no sides. I still get random boners and sh*t.

Here’s an update, about 7 months in. My hair is still way below baseline. At baseline I couldn’t see scalp after showers except slightly in the crown. I’m not sure how much ground I’ve lost in the last couple of months because diffuse thinning is so hard to measure. I do believe I’ve lost less In the last couple of months than in the first couple of months though so I guess that’s good.

I’m still curious if you guys think it’s worth trying dutasteride since my lab results (posted above) indicate my DHT is already almost nonexistent.

Still haven’t started minoxidil because I’m scared of the shed. Maybe it’s time.

Luckily I still maintain a decent nw2 hairline which I’m thankful for.

Somehow I still manage an exceptional coverup game with toppik and hairspray. I don’t think anyone can tel I’m balding. Of course I rely on dry non windy days to keep the illusion going, lol.

Thoughts on these photos is appreciated. How do they compare with previous wet photos, how bad is my situation, etc.

And here are pics of my hair after blow drying, no toppik. I think it’s time for another haircut. I may take the sides shorter this time, as opposed to my other haircut in the last page. I hate the noticeable density difference from the sides to the top.

You should try minoxidil 5%. Use foam in the morning to make it manageable to style during the day. Then use liquid at night. Laser hair therapy might also be an option; seems to work best for diffuse thinning rather than receding-hairline type hairloss.

To be honest, your hair looks great without any toppik. I don't think anybody could tell you're balding based on your last pictures.

Your hair and hairline still look pretty good overall man. That hairline doesnt even look receded it just looks like you are a natural NW2 from birth or something. Start using minoxidil man dont be lazy lol. I'm putting my entire hair on the line by using minoxidil only as treatment.

Wet hair photos from baseline to now. I’m not sure how wet my hair was in the baseline photo, but I think it was pretty wet. Smh it’s over

It looks about the same tbh as your head is tilted a little differently. If you want to improve density at least try minoxidil first.
