I have no idea. Try it first, then you'll know. Propecia, minoxidil, nizoral. If it doesn't work, shave your head and join a monastery. No one will laugh at you.

Except me :)

minoxidil 5% 6 sprays 1 time per day(9/25/03)
-nizoral(soon)
-fluridil(soon)
started losing at age 17 and now 22

Sounds like a decent regimen, you should see results within 12 months, but it's impossible to know how aggressive your male pattern baldness is, and wether you've seen the worst for the time being or now...

I'd recommend using the minoxidil 2 x per day (1ml/am + 1ml/pm).

Your temples & sides have receeded a lot, where your head is slick (with no vellous blonde hairs) i doubt you'll see much improvement. Where there are vellous hairs, you should be able to thicken them & hopefully return them no normal terminal hairs with 2ml/d of 5% minoxidil.

Good luck

5 years? minoxidil may not bring back too much of the hairline but I guarantee you that minoxidil and a DHT blocker will help you keep what you have AND give you some improvement.

FWIW - you look like I did before I had plants in the temples. And with the apparent lack of speed of your loss, you might be a good candidate yourself.

I had been losing since 18 and began my regimen at 23 - so you're certainly not out of the "results" age group. Give it a try, you never know.

Just one thing, dont spray the minoxidil use it with a dropper, its much better that way. I would suggest propecia as well if it doesent freak you out.

if i were you, i'd shave it number one or two. it'd look better. everyone will disagree with me..but i think nothing can regrow hair when you've lost and receded that much hair. it just helps maintain hair. even if you do regrow hair it won't be a drastic change from how it is now. shave it

hey man you can definately improve on that, just check out martin's pics in the members pics section. He's exceptionaly, but not unheard of. Personaly i think those chunks where you have some thin hairs can definately thicken up to normal density, however you do have some clean slick areas which i am skeptical about. I personally have been on propecia and nizoral for 7 months, but have yet to see temples move down (yet have maintained hair though)

thanx for the comments guys. i'm pretty positive about my situation, even tho it dont look so good. i eventually will prolly get a really short fade like 1 or 2 on top and a skin fade from bottom up to the 1 or 2. but right now i can style my hair where its not so bad, i just use some wax sh*t and make it look messy... maybe i'll get a pic on here. but anywayz, i cant use propecia(just CANNOT!) so i'll use the fluridil which will come in a week or so and maybe get a hair transplant within a yr. anywayz, why should i use the dropper for minoxidil? the spray has been tit!

My advice, hold off on the H.T as long as you can. Dont even think about one until youve given treatments at least 2 years. With any luck you can halt your hairloss and get some regrowth with what you intend to use.

Use a dropper with minoxidil because it gets it onto the scalp better, if you spray it will get onto your hair more and that does jackshit.

Curious why is this? Even at a very small dose propecia can be very effective, such as 0.25mg. Youll get further in a regimen with propecia in it.

and propecia turns 98% of its users into monkeys not to mention other side effects. unless you accept excessive body hair or already have excessive body hair on your back, etc..., i would stay away from it. i have and my hair is doing fine with minoxidil alone. nothing will make you regrow as much hair as you once had no matter what these people say. they take everything, big 3, whatever,..and they're still here trying to find ways to regrow hair..and some even got transplants and still need help. this is just my opinion..everyone will dissagree because they nuthug each other on the big 3. but if you read their posts, they haven't regrown a lot of hair,..if any. i've read about a lot of people on this board and others who say they're on the big 3 and it's not working..almost all say this..most say that they just maintained their hair and that it's just slowing down the process. i'm not trying to start sh*t,..i'm just trying to bring reality back to this board

hopewas speaks for hopewas. Many of us here use the Big Three and more hair as a result.

Propecia, minoxidil and nizoral work for me very well. I just have one side effect since starting them....more hair.

hopewas - man wtf are you talking bout buddy, you got to be kidding me

A) minoxidil causes body hair growth man. Its a systematically absorbed hair growth stimulant. Have fun with your monobrow monkeyboy. DHT is responsible for body hair growth, if anything propecia lowering DHT would eliminate body hair.

B) minoxidil in my opinion has more worse said effects - uhmmm heart palpitations, facial swelling, body hair growth...not to mention other hairs become minoxidil dependant to...to name a few

C) I say martin is a great success. the guy was a thin Norwood 3 and unbeleivably thickened his hair as well as probably went down to a Norwood
2-2.5. Basically this - the guy has almost twice as much hair 1 year later.
In my books even not getting any balder 4-5 years later would be a phenomenal success to me.

D) most people here do have real expectations man. This is why people say martin had great results - as far as current meds go. If you consider phenomenal to be going Bruce willis to David Shwimmer, keep dumping on that minoxidil buddy. Many people on these boards don't have advanced hairloss -in fact many people can't often tell lots of guys here are balding. Thus if these guys can keep what they got for 10 years, I'd consider that fantastic.

Diddy speaks for Diddy.....sh*t if people are worried so much about taking the only proven meds, happily go bald and get lost. Objective studies have laid down some solid numbers, a little bit more accurately then hopewas has.

f*** hair transplants- they are not the answer to anything but thinning your wallet out of mucho cash.

Here are some fun facts about hair transplant:

1. You must remain on Fina and minoxidil to keep your existing hair
2. you will always have a huge scar across your head
3. Grafts don't always take- no guarantee either
4. Excessive average cost of $10,000 or more.
5. Your hair will never be thick.
6. You could end up like doggy.
