f*** hair transplants- they are not the answer to anything but thinning your wallet out of mucho cash.

Here are some fun facts about hair transplant:

1. You must remain on Fina and minoxidil to keep your existing hair
2. you will always have a huge scar across your head
3. Grafts don't always take- no guarantee either
4. Excessive average cost of $10,000 or more.
5. Your hair will never be thick.
6. You could end up like doggy.

I am happy with my hair transplants.

:)

Your probably older than 30 right Bruce? He is still young-that is why I make such comments. Most sucess is with guys over 40 and into 50. heard and saw many horror stories from years gone by.

There are only a small number of guys who do FUE, so I hope you don't mind traveling. Our biggest hope is that they come up with cloning soon, but I hear it is still about 5 years off.

Well my first hair transplant was when I was 35 and it was an appropriate step in a long term strategy. And for sure, there are some really poor docs out there doing hair transplants. Shop very very wisely.

Having said that, mine turned out fine.

Thanks

hopewas - man wtf are you talking bout buddy, you got to be kidding me

A) minoxidil causes body hair growth man. Its a systematically absorbed hair growth stimulant. Have fun with your monobrow monkeyboy. DHT is responsible for body hair growth, if anything propecia lowering DHT would eliminate body hair.

B) minoxidil in my opinion has more worse said effects - uhmmm heart palpitations, facial swelling, body hair growth...not to mention other hairs become minoxidil dependant to...to name a few

C) I say martin is a great success. the guy was a thin Norwood 3 and unbeleivably thickened his hair as well as probably went down to a Norwood
2-2.5. Basically this - the guy has almost twice as much hair 1 year later.
In my books even not getting any balder 4-5 years later would be a phenomenal success to me.

D) most people here do have real expectations man. This is why people say martin had great results - as far as current meds go. If you consider phenomenal to be going Bruce willis to David Shwimmer, keep dumping on that minoxidil buddy. Many people on these boards don't have advanced hairloss -in fact many people can't often tell lots of guys here are balding. Thus if these guys can keep what they got for 10 years, I'd consider that fantastic.

Diddy speaks for Diddy.....sh*t if people are worried so much about taking the only proven meds, happily go bald and get lost. Objective studies have laid down some solid numbers, a little bit more accurately then hopewas has.

wonk wonk wonk, you sound like charlie brown's teacher. i have no body hair other than on my chest , legs and ***..some on my arms..but not excessive hair..and what i said is the truth. although i agree that minoxidil probably does make you hairier too ..like propecia. and i still say martin's results are a joke because he still looks like he's almost bald..

if i were you, i'd shave it number one or two. it'd look better. everyone will disagree with me..but i think nothing can regrow hair when you've lost and receded that much hair. it just helps maintain hair. even if you do regrow hair it won't be a drastic change from how it is now. shave it

Don't listen to this guy, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Go to the picture gallery and look at "Martin's" story.. he had about the same hairloss that you have (prolly worse). He regrew a good amount, and his temples filled in well.

Nonsense again. Propecia does not grow body hair.. it inhibits type 2 5ar which inturn inhibits DHT that is the main cause of body hair.

minoxidil on the other hand turns people into monkeys. It causes hypertrichosis.. which means GROWING HAIR ON YOUR BODY. It's almost always absorbed systemically to some extent. You might not get body hair from it but many people do. Plus without addressing the androgen issue there is some irreperable damage being done to your follicles, even if you maintain/regrow with minoxidil.

And if you think martin is "almost bald", then you need to retake a look at your hairline.. because with that huge forehead you're kidding yourself if you think others believe you have the illusion of a full head of hair.

Also, go take a look seattle rock's photos from HLH.. he's a solid NW2 with some diffuse thinning.. he reversed a NW5. You get proven wrong time and time again.. but being the stubborn inccessant mule that you are, it's impossible for you to accept it.

WHy does body hair become more of a problem as you get older? is it because testosterone can't compete for the body hair follicle as easily becasue there is less of it?

Body hair grows for the same reason hair on the head goes!

The same exact reason as why hair goes later in life! A combination of the increase in DHT serum levels, and sensitvity to the androgen receptors at the body hair follicles.

you look a lot tougher in the bald pic man. You have a really cut looking face, so it makes you look tough. Personally i think the with hair pic looks better, but then again you just kinda made up your scalp shape, so i think in real life it'd probably look a bit more naturally shaped. How bad is your loss? The pic is hard to tell where exactly you're at. Personaly i think if you don't have a bad horseshoe, keeping the stuble looks better (get to keep sideburns, which shape the face a bit nicer)
Either way, you with a shaved head doesn't look shocking, so take that as a compliment.

No, minoxidil and propecia and everything under the sink won't get you a full head of hair.

Yes, if you find a treatment you respond well to you can recover a cosmetically significant amount of hair.

Yes, even if you recover a fairly significant amount of hair you're probably going to keep coming back here to find ways to grow more, or find better ways to maintain what you have. Claiming nothing works simply because big 3 proponents are still around is rather silly.

Yes, I think Martin's pics show definite success. He looks vastly better than he did _before_ treatment, even if he still looks like he's losing his hair. I see guys every day - in college, in the workplace, in sports - who look that way. Hey, if that's not enough success for you, if you won't "succeed" until you've grown so much hair you have an aversion to getting any more, welp, then you probably should just shave your head and throw in the towel. You're never gonna be happy.

As for hair transplants and age, I'm not sure what magical thing some people think happens at 30, but for most guys cruise from their early 20s to their mid 20s to their late 20s and right on into their 30s feeling and often looking little different. (With the exception, obviously, of the impact of hair loss, or of letting yourself go to pot - but you could do that in your teens.)

You look better with hair. But you also look pretty good with a bald head also. You got lucky if you lose your hair you will still look pretty good with a bald head and will still get chicks.

You seem like your cut. If you are cut i would wear small white t-shirts and buff up a tad maybe and wear blue jeans and white shoes. You would get chicks.
