That's a heck of an extreme regimen you've got. It's no surprise you've had such good regrowth. I just hope you're aware of how potentially dangerous oral spironolactone, oral minoxidil and tamoxifen are to be putting in your body. Even dutasteride alone is taking a risk.

I am, nonetheless, happy for you that you have had such good regrowth. Your regrowth is certainly very impressive!

He stopped oral spironolactone and started topical RU. Oral minoxidil is the only "risky" thing he got going on now. But no update in a while.. Hope everything is going well..

There's an oral minoxidil? How do I get that? Is it expensive?

It comes as a BP med. Not something to use if you don't want water retention, Unstable BP. You can check it out on any pharmacy

Well, topical RU is also "risky" in my opinion. The active ingredient most likely goes systemic, and there has been no research of any kind done on its safety. Dutasteride itself is also a considerable risk because of the unknowns regarding 5-AR type 1 inhibition.

I am, however, pleased that this guy has had good results, but I personally would be a lot more concerned for his liver than for his hair.

Please can you answer where you buy your dutasteride and oral min from?
Most guys on here get dutasteride from Inhouse or Alldaychemist. I strongly advise you not to use oral minoxidil. It is potentially very dangerous!

As I mentioned, oral minoxidil is potentially very dangerous. If you research the potential side-effects, you'll see why. I would advise any hair loss sufferer to stay away from both oral minoxidil and oral spironolactone.

dutasteride has a nice safety profile, and yes RU has not been tested enough for either safety or efficacy.

For the guys interested in oral minoxidil. It is not a nice drug to take long term, and the hair thickening the effect is not localized to your scalp if you take it orally. Hair will thicken all over.

19, just noticed the male pattern baldness kicking in.

Hey man, the pictures look awesome. I myself just really started noticing the effects of male pattern baldness (I'm 19). I just started finasteride 1mg daily. How long did it take you to decide what was working and what wasn't? I'm only at a little over a month so I know it's not that long but I'm still curious when i should expect at least something. Also, how did you decide on haircuts for when you were recovering your hair? Mine is pretty thin in the crown, and I don't know what to do about my hair.

I'm 16 and I think I'm receding

Hello all,

Quick story, i have a strong family history of baldness, both sides of the family. My older brother suffers quite badly with a thinness and receding so when at 16, my hairline started to recede I was very worried. I started using Regaine at about 17, used for about a year but it did not work: My hair loss was mostly at the temples and I was not tackling androgens. At 18 I noticed my crown had started to thin, this prompted me to go on Propecia, and tried this for a year and a half - Although my crown remained the same for that time my frontal hair loss seem to accelerate, and the dreaded horse shoe pattern emerged. At 19/20 I decided that propecia had not worked, so I then tried Dutasteride. This really ruined my hairline, not only did I have recession but also general thinning in my frontal areas, furthermore my crown began to worsen. From my own experience I believe that my follicles are very susceptible to all androgens, I was on Dutasteride for a whole year and only deteriorated. So at 20, almost 21, I was pretty desperate, I remained on Dutasteride (as i think a dht blocker must be in a regime); and added Oral spironolactone (200mg) and Oral Minoxidil (10mg). I have been on this regime since Jan 2011, and I have had good success, but be under no illusion progress has been very slow. My crown thickened up very quickly and my hair-line is improving all the time, I must conceed that after about 6 months i started to notice the beginnings of Gyno, so I added Genox (20mg) and this has completely subsided, I play lots of football and keep very fit so I'm sure this also helps. My current state Is pretty good, I would say I am a Norwood 0.5 (if that exists) and I would go as far to say I have no bald areas on my scalp, my juvenile hair line is visible and most of the vellus hairs that originally grew are half way to terminal. I am very happy with my hair in my current state, I do not shed many hairs at all either.

My current regime is ED Dutas (0.5mg), Oral spironolactone (100mg morn and 100mg eve), Oral Minoxidil (5mg (I dropped this down to 5mg 6 months ago with no problems)), Genox (20mg) and Alpecin in evenings (I feel this may be helping to stimulate follicles.).

I am adding 10% minoxidil foam, and Bimatoprost to my regime, which I will only use 1 a day and only on my hair line. I have to say although i know most people may not agree with this regime I am extremely grateful for these kinds of forums, people do not understand how traumatic male pattern baldness can be, especially at a young age. I would never tell anyone to adopt this regime, I just hope it informs, and i wanted to share my story because this site has given me lots of information and help. I can add photos from when i was on dutasteride (when my hair was at its worse), and my current state if anyone is interested.

Jack

I'm 16 and I do not know what's going on with my hairline. My forehead seems to be bigger than any other else. I'm just not sure if this is natural or i'm actually receding, I wanted to go to a doctor to assure what's actually going on coz i really don't know. My hair's been like this for about 2years. But still, I just don't know......HELP ME

Very interesting regimen and proactive approach, kudos! I might have to try some of that more unorthodox stuff, see if anything works for slick bald temples!

Hi Jgray,

Seeing you results I imagine you spend less time on forums and more noting life, and you are right!

I had also very very good results with dutasteride and it has been 10 years I used it. it improved my density, kept my crown intact, sadly my temples are still receding. Not fastly but it is very difficult to stop that.

It is obviously the mix of the 3 drugs that give so strong results but your results are higher than anyone else here. Your hairline became almost juvenile! (And many of use here minoxidil + duta + RU) so I can only imagine that it is oral spironolactone that gives this EXTRA.

So my questions about spironolactone, would love if you can help me

- Did you got sides from it (rectile disfunction) ?
- Did you studied what are ther risk long term ? Any risk of infertility?
- Where do you buy it ? Is in-house safe ?

Thank you and keep strong

Regards

I think I have a similar problem

I am new to this site so don't know how to create my own threads, but I am 16, my dad is not fully bald but has receded and has a bald area at the crown, so shaves his head, by material grandfather has a full head of hair and so does my dads grandfather Excepthis is very thin, I noticed recently that my hair looks like it is receding, not sure if it is just a mature hairline because I have noticed it going back and think it has been like this for some time, but is quite bad on the right compared to left and just want to know if it mature receding or just my natural hairline

Good Lord,

I know the struggle of hairloss way to well and my (young) life seems to revolve around it. Is sucks to the point that depression is permanent, but those are some serious drugs he is taking!

Oral Minoxidil is for high blood preassure and can cause serious heart problems. Oral spironolactone can make you grow menboobs as well as other serious side effects.

I hope it all works out for him but this is some dangerous regimen!
