Pick Two And Give Reasons

If you think in terms of evolutionary psychology, which is very informative and insightful, women will choose men who are likely to:

1) Provide better genes so their offspring can support themselves;
2) Support their offspring

#2 means healthy, young, strong, powerful, good hand-eye coordination, speed, general athleticism, social status, etc.

If the men of the tribe go hunting for zebra, and a lesser man brings home zebra steak, the greater man will kill the lesser man and take his steak, leaving the lesser man's family to starve while the greater man's family is well fed. The greater man's offspring then grow up stronger and taller than the lesser man's offspring, and the cycle continues.

That's the way it worked on the African Savannah, and that's the way it works today but through the different mechanisms of capitalism and social class. If you produce $1.00 of value, you should expect that $0.20 or $0.30 of that value goes to the financial sector and other groups favoured by the government, usually in ways invisible to you. They are taking your steak.

*********

Aside from that, I have lived in both Australia and America. They're very similar countries. And regardless, gender norms are actually more rigid in Australia. The women here are girlier, and the men are less girly.

You think Australian women only watch State of Origin for the strategic ingenuity?

Give it some diligent consideration:

Humans don't just allow people murdering on each other. We don't fight like gorillas for women. Humans are insanely smart and intelligence doesn't give a f*** about who has the bigger muscle, a "weak" man can f*** over a "stronger" man in a million ways.

Modern civilization is largely held up by the threat of force: militaries, police, et cetera. There's a reason that the world's richest country spends more on its military than the entire rest of the planet combined.

With that said, it's true that individual brawn has very, very little intrinsic value in modern society. Yet we still choose tall men as our leaders. We've had agriculture (and civilization) for ~10,000 years, sexual evolution goes back ~1.3 billion years. It's in the "reptilian brain".

There was nothing fragile there, I tried to tackle the ideas presented from a scientific pov, may be a waste of time with some people, if so, so be it.

Ok.. Peace out. It's just that these long winded lectures come across as very patronising.

They also reek of a desperate need to win an point.
Look, for the most part we are just making casual observations here about the modern world we live in.

I just believe lectures on the origins of man are a bit of a stretch.
Though, I'll concede, ultimately relevant, if we really wanna get to the roots of the subject.

It's just... My head hurts.

Yeah women want "strong men"
Women (like men) want everything, and then settle for what's available.

You yourself said you wanted a tall Scandinavian model with large boobs. How's that going? It's probably not going, but that doesn't mean you're not genuine in saying you'd want that.

Yeah women want "strong men" yet you see plenty of them going out with what you would call "weak men".

But science! Right.

Sexual attraction is a matter of looks (face) and genetic compatibility.
So much common sense it just bewilders me why some people don't want to accept this. Both men and women want a beautiful and healthy partners to have sex with. Humans are pathetic when it comes to strength and muscles anyway, some animals eat grass and don't lift and are strong as f***.

Women (like men) want everything, and then settle for what's available.
Exactly. But everything doesn't mean the same for all of them. Some of them want guys the bodybuilding body, some want skinny dudes, some the strongman body, and so on.

Dave, why do you think is the reason behind a lot of women not liking blond hair on dudes? I am blond and women always told me that they don't really like blond hair on a man. Even in movies, a blond bald dude is depicted as evil as f***.

My honest impression is that hair colour matters for very, very little for both men and women. Exceptions include when hair communicates poor health, such as with albinos or having grey/white hair as a young age.

For some women it might be effectively socially constructed from a legacy of romantic tropes, the same way women can like men who are white, who are thin, who are wearing nice suits, etc. All of that is socially constructed.

There's a stereotype that men prefer women with blonde hair, but in real life I've only known of 1 guy who claims that this is the case for him.

ETA: So sorry, I don't have a good answer for you.

You could try dying your hair for a few months and see if it makes a difference?

@xetudor ,

Don't know if you follow social media, but a piece of humour going around has been this:

bachelors.jpg

These are the four final contestants on this year's The Bachelorette. It looks like that woman has a specific kind of man that she's attracted to, which doesn't include blonde haired men.

For the slow ones one reading this, the point of the joke is that these four guys are physically indistinguishable. If you met the four of them at a party you wouldn't remember which one was which.

I can't tell you what this woman's pathology is lol, but you'll probably be able to find a lot of speculation online.

Physically indistinguishable?

I'd say three of them are.
I'm sure we all know who the odd one out is.

I would definitely remember one of them.

This "must be 6 feet tall" came from the US.

I didn't know my height was an advantage before someone (from the US) mentioned it on this forum back in 2010.

I see too many guys of average height (but handsome) do well with girls, some guys are even shorter.

It has no impact on a female sexual attraction. Hate for shortness is socially constructed, just like hate for baldness.

I laugh at some of the females I know who sleep with a lot of hot guys, but always complain about their height afterwards.

"Yeah but he's short." Well sweetie, you still f-cked him.

That said, being tall is definitely an advantage, and not only with women.

Countless studies have shown that tall men do better in almost every area of life.

It has a huge impact on sexual attraction, you must know this being tall? You think you would have got anywhere near the women if you were 5ft 7?, ok some women will sleep with shorter men but they would prefer his taller twin and would get wetter. It's due to tallness being seen as masculine.

When I added height to my tinder I got a lot more matches. Ever heard the term Tall Dark and handsome?

Yup, men are on average ~8% taller than women. Height is a "secondary sexual characteristic", which along with facial symmetry (health) and facial averageness (genetics) are the features that define attractiveness.

See:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secondary_sex_characteristic
And also:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_selection_in_humans
And references therein.

Note that the height difference between human males and human females is something that emerges during puberty.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the average height for a female is five foot four. Men are only four more inches taller, on average (five foot eight).

That's not a major difference. In inches, that's 68 versus 64.

That's only a six percent difference.

69/64 ~ 1.08.

My daughter is still growing, and women do grow after puberty. In fact, she is going to
be five foot nine.

Here's the thing. Prince was five foot two (if that).

Imagine if he was born with "average" (five foot eight) height. Do you think he would
be the rock star he was? Who knows.

Didn't stop him from playing basketball in high school. In fact, he always argued with his
coach for a bigger role. And he was a teenager. And I've seen basketball players who are really good, and are much shorter than five foot eight.

It's the maturity of a man, not the height. Some men are mature enough to see past it. Some men
hate taller men as well. Some men can't, and they are angry their whole lives.

This isn't a personal post about anybody here, this is just a statement of fact.

There are exceptions to every rule and generalisation.

I'm only discussing trends.

Typically, the height difference between men and women emerges after puberty. It's a secondary sexual characteristic, similar to women growing hips and breasts. Prior to puberty, boys are not significantly taller than girls.

Other things being equal, 6'2 is a substantial sexual upgrade over 5'9, and in turn over 5'3, for a man, assuming a proportional build and not Klinefelter syndrome.

I'd rather look like this guy:
s4garibaldi31.jpg

Than this guy:
elliot-rodger-picture-posted-his-facebook-account.jpg

The first guy looks like a man. Never mind attracting women, he can feel good looking at himself in the mirror in the morning.

The second guy has a symmetric pretty boy face, great hair, and is 5'3. His name was Elliott Rodger. He was an angry incel who shot up some people and killed himself in Santa Barbara, California back in 2014. He had *amazing* hair, and it didn't help him much.

My daughter isn't a good example, so not sure why the equation for that.
You may be exhibiting symptoms of Proud Daddy Syndrome. Don't worry,
Although it's incurable,
it's not physically life-threatening as far as we know. ;)

David_MPN,

The men that you were showing earlier, that were picked by that woman, she seemed to prefer
pushover guys, in my opinion.

If you wore a purple dress, with flowers on it, you would probably win her affections. Look at the
guy on the left. I would put my money on it.

Are those guys pushovers? I wouldn't know. I don't watch the show.

Incidentally, the guy on the left has receding temples. That suggests he won't win.

I can't tell you which one is the tallest or the best built. I don't know.

David_MPN,

Never watched that show in my life. Definitely not going to. I'm a horror movie fan,
and should probably video tape my hair loss!

Never will. I would sit through the "Land of the Lost" movie before I watched that show.

You showed the pictures, just saying..

How can you tell they're pushovers?
