Sometimes I feel suicidal about this whole thing..This whole rat race we are living in. Hair loss is another way to be crippled in this already competitve world.

I picture myself when I have no hair. and I have no attractiveness. Ill no longer have a use as human. I could see myself ending this when that happens. Do you have to be depressed to be suicidal? Perhaps I am depressed if im having suicudal thoughts.

Perhaps life being bald wont be that bad. If I can get a girlfriend. and just enjoy life then it may not be. But damn. Waking up everyday to a bald head may be v. depressing. I dont care whether I get my degree. Whatever Im doing Ill be bald(ing).

Everything you say H4HR sounds familiar to me because it is the same dialouge that goes on in my head. These thoughts that we (and many others) have are not really our own, but rather have been superimposed on us by the media and popular culture. They are the ones telling us we are worthless eyesores and it becomes engrained and embedded in our social subconcious. They tell us....we believe it....and then continue to perpetuate this idea until it can be tangibly felt by every bald and thinning man in this culture. Baldness wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem as it is if it weren't for the damaging stigma that is attatched to it. A stigma that society created and it's culture continues to reinforce.

That was a really enlightened thing to say Uman, your right.

Its only the society around us that makes us feel worthless because we dont have perfect model looks that are put forward in magazines etc. It creates an unrealistic expecation of how we should be and what the world expects of it.

But what about Samson? we have been depressed about loosing hair since the dawn of time surely..?

It is what it is and will always will be, which is a genetic condition. The media culture has turned it into something else though, a disease to be feared and hated, something to be ashamed and embarrassed by. Times change as do perceptions of beauty, but one thing will be forever entwined with beauty and that is youth. And although real male pattern baldness is not age descriminatory (after puberty) it makes us look older and pushes us further away from that ideal, regardless of what era.

Pics that give me hope are picks of guys with abs and nice, decent sized muscle. If you make your body hot, it will compensate for the hairloss. At the pool party last night, I noticed the guys with muscle were getting the ladies. The flat chested guys were by themselves. My chest was way bigger than theirs. I was surprised I was not the smallest one. When I feel my chest through my shirt, ther is meat there, and plenty, even if I'm not flexing. That is what the women want.

woah...shes smoking hot, who is she? And who exactly is he? Doesn't even pull it off particularily well...not that he looks bad either. Another example

Cinjun Tate of the band Remy Zero married Alyssa Milano back in 1999 when she was only 26. They divorced but clearly it wasn't because of hair or lack thereof.

also...David Palffy, little known actor is married to Erica Durance (Lois Lane on Smallville)

and the kicker is..in both these cases, the females were/are much higher profile than their bald husbands.

Stop the presses, bald guys can have hot girlfriends too

haha, hey I was just using those examples to show naysayers there are cases of this "phenomenon" occurring...and the guys don't necessarily have to be rich or famous either! Sadly though, some guys won't be able to buy it..for example U-man made that comment some pages back that Kelly Brook must have seen her time with Billy Zane as "paying her dues" while she used him to climb the hollywood ladder or something like that...the sad part is I think he genuinely believed that to be a fact.

I think uman is a legitimately depressed individual so you cant really hold it to him. I feel bad for his pain and suffering even if it is only self-perceived

Thats because in that particular case it was probably true.

But obviously it works the other way round aswell I've seen goodlooking guys with fat or average looking girlfreinds/wives does'nt mean all goodlooking guys will go for them though.

lol I really doubt it was true....Zane is a good looking guy without hair and he is likely a very funny, charming individual...she wouldnt have put up with him for 4 years and nearly got married to him for the sake of becoming more famous...and if that had been her intention, she could have picked from a handful of Norwood 1's who had clout...not a washed up B movie actor...there is definitely no shortage of Norwood 1's, famous at that...who would have wanted to date Kelly Brook...shes a 10/10.

Having suffered from low self esteem for much of my life for other issues, I know what its like to think you just don't measure up to other people and girls won't like you...and guess what? When you feel that way...thats EXACTLY what happens...you watch as you get passed over and blame it on your perceived physical flaws. The fact is...if you wanna say that baldness is a sign of bad genetics so women will inevitably pass on dating bald men....(which only uneducated dumb women will think because baldness doesn't imply WEAKNESS at all) then I'll argue that low self esteem and being unsure of yourself is a much stronger sign of "bad genes" from an evolutionary point of view....an emotionally weak man (which unfortunately a lot of bald people like U-man are, and I don't mean that in a malicious way...it IS true that they are depressed/have no belief in themselves, etc.) will not be able to provide the proper necessities to ensure the safety and security of the woman and her potential children...thats why the whole "confidence" thing isn't just some theory that has a little merit....its the most important thing that any man can posses in this world no matter how he looks....now if your self perception is wrapped up entirely in how you look...then thats another issue completely.

For every photo of a good looking guy in general, there are a thousand on the street who I see face to face that counter act anything a photo might show

An attractive guy with baldness is like an attractive woman with a beard.
