There's nothing to overthink about. If you feel you've been falling more hair than usual, then I suggest you visit a dermatologist or a trichologist near you that will be able to assess your condition properly.

Besides this, you can follow several safety measures so that you're not prone to male pattern baldness.

1. Eat a healthy diet with lots of vitamins and minerals. Research proves that poor nutrition can contribute to male pattern baldness.

2. Stop smoking.

3. Don't take any type of stress. Stress and hair fall are closely related.

4. Keep your water intake good + take adequate sleep.

5. Don't use anabolic steroids or other supplements to gain lean muscle mass.

Making minor changes to your lifestyle can give you a healthy body and a healthy scalp.

Still, if you notice more hair falling than usual, it's time to visit a hair doctor near you!

Progress update (just got a haircut so it’s a little shorter than usual). I feel like I’m in ok shape, but I’m still worried about the temples. Still no issues with finasteride.

Progress update - I’m still a little concerned about the temple area but it doesn’t seem to getting significantly worse. Hoping the dermapen is helping.

I think it looks good. In your case, finasteride should be quite effective.
Thanks - fortunately I haven’t had any sides, so I’ll continue using it along with minoxidil and the dermapen. I’m just concerned about my temples. The hairs seem much thinner than the others along my hairline.

Update: I’m considering asking my dermatologist for an oral minoxidil prescription. I feel like I’m still receding even with my oral finasteride/topical minoxidil routine. I’m a little worried about the sides, but I’ve had none with finasteride (totally different medication, I know). Has anyone had success with oral minoxidil in the temple region?

I’ve been on oral minoxidil for a little over three months now and have been pleased with the results and lack of side effects (as far as I can tell). I was using topical minoxidil until my supply ran out. So my regimen is now finasteride (1mg) and minoxidil (2.5mg) once a day.

I’ve been on oral minoxidil for over 6 months now and was pleased with the results but recently saw a candid photo of myself from the side which made me look like I was starting to recede/thin. Curious what you all think.

Checking in for another update. I’m still not sure how I’m responding. I’m considering asking my dermatologist about dutasteride.

There might be some maturation going on, but I certainly wouldn't throw the kitchen sink at it with dutasteride. It can make your hair worse. If you are a perfectionist, you can just get a transplant and be set for life.

Do you mean miniaturization? I thought maturation was complete by your late 20s?

At what point do I pursue a hair transplant?

I meant maturation. It’s like you’ve very slowly gone from NW1 to NW2. You do not have aggressive hair loss and never will.

You’re probably at the age where you can get a transplant. Personally I think your hair looks good though. But it’s an option if you want a perfect NW1 hairline. But no way in hell would I go on dutasteride unless you had literally no other choice and were balding aggressively. I see too many cases where hair gets worse on dutasteride, particularly in individuals with mild hair loss. It even happened to me, never again
