I don't know if it really exists or if it's just a phenomenon on the hair loss forums.
I've been taking finasteride for a long time, almost 4 years.
The first 6 months everything was fine, but then shedding began, extremely oily skin, scalp oily.
Has anyone experienced something similar under 1mg finasteride?

It definitely exists. I'm suffering from this. I lost 80% of what I gained in a whole year in just 4 months. What a coincidence I have oily skin, oily scalp, increased libido and acne again.

Yup even after stopping Finasteride, its pretty common after using Finasteride. More and more people are becoming woke to it.

Finasteride is a poison.
How long did you take finasteride for and how long ago did you stop?

And after you stopped it did any of your Reflex Hyperandrogenicity symptoms stop or slow down?

I didn't have the symptoms you had in terms of the oily skin etc, I was referring more to the upregulation of the AR, whereby the hair follicles actually have an opposite effect on Finasteride and get more sensitive to DHT.
It's often the case with people who notice a worsening effect on peoples hair after taking Finasteride than baseline.

Ok gotcha. I asked bc in these case of potential Reflex Hyperandrogenicity, there are almost other tell tale symptoms such as oily scalp and increased libido.

I wonder if this upregulation of AR are permanent or if stopping usage of finasteride will eventually lead to a regulation of hormones and AR. What do you think?

I'm honestly not sure about that. But messing up with the balance of hormones is a nightmare to deal with and almost impossible to fix. I think seeing an endocrinologist might assist but they might recommend you remove the cause of the problem which is Finasteride most likely. Depending on how much of an issue those sides are for you, you will have to decide whether to stay on or not.

Congratulations on stopping early. Good that you listened to your body. That's another important thing that people don't realize though, Finasteride can have so many different side effects, not just mental and sexual sides.

Agreed! My hope is that i stopped earlier than most with regards to RH. Im hoping that it will work in my favor to possibly reverse the continuing damage. From the forums it seems that most didn’t stop until at least 6+ months after starting. (Although i have seen a few posts of people stopping within a few months and still have issues long term.)
