I guess I just don’t understand the usefulness of the results as they are exactly what any person on this site should reasonably expect if there had never been a poll. I’m actually astonished that the yes column Is not higher considering the population of the polled is made up entirely of people desperately looking for answers to hair loss and hair loss treatment issues. Anyway I wish there was less animosity on these discussion boards. Just the fact that we’re here means that we are already suffering some form of pain, sadness, desperation or frustration. In all seriousness, while there was a time when I would have said “it’s all in your head” I now believe there is no reason to doubt that 5ar inhibitors have lasting negative side effdcrives on some people. Even if I’m not one of them.

That is in short term. Do you ever ask yourself, why in the study done of 10 years with propecia, Merck never release any hormone value ?
The thing is easy, Progesterone is an hormone that, basically, regulate DHT and estrogen , by inhibiting aromatase and 5 alpha reductase.
What do you thing that will have when the body sense less DHT but more strogen ?! DHT and Estrogen, not testosterone, are the yin/yan . In a normal body, when one goes down, the other goes down too, cause progesterone.
Long term finasteride User have lower Testosterone , lower or even none existing progesterone, and higher estrogen than the average.
Since the progesterone is inhibit it , there is no control for the aromatase, that is why Estrogen increase a lot.
Different thing is what happen with testosterone, in the begining, since there is no more DHT, less Test is convert it into DHT , and that is why the increase. And that increase in T also explain the increase in Estrogen.
But, where there is not progesterone to inhibit aromatase , there is a lot of T convert it into estrogen and , cause this, there is less T . This is , at least one of the mechanism that explain what happen at long term . And this is what Merck didn't want you to know.
Why do you think that the blockbuster Dutasteride, far superior than Finaster, never was release it for male pattern baldness ?

Plus, the estrogen in the male are created from Testosterone, so more estrogen mean less T.
