Do you have other children Joan? Or is the responsibility for grandkids entirely on your son?

I also have a 14-year old son and 31-year-old (married) stepdaughter. Her husband is totally bald; she met him that way. He has a baby face, and I can't imagine he'd look better with hair. To be honest, I don't long to be a grandmother. All I want is for my kids to be healthy, happy and independent, with no monetary worries. I don't understand mothers who badger their kids to make them grandmothers.

Quite an age difference between your two sons. This one was an accident?

No! If I didn't know how to prevent accidents by the time I was 38, something had to be wrong.

I wanted two, my husband wanted one (well, another made it three for him), so it took some time for him to warm up to having another.

My husband didn't even start thinning until his mid-50s. That really hurts, seeing your son losing hair while you've maintained yours till much later in life. Same for me--my hair loss started a little over three years ago. I'm not going to lie: I am not handling Androgenetic Alopecia well, but when my son told me he was losing hair, I cried, literally. My father said he started losing his hair around 20. Growing up, I remember him having thin hair on top. When he died at 66, he was pretty much NW6. I never thought anything of it, like everyone else who is somewhat oblivious to others' baldness till it happens to him/her. My father-in-law died at 49. I never knew him, but I've seen pictures of him as a NW6. My husband said he was that way since his early 20s. Baldness runs on both sides of our families, so I can only hope that my son will at least take after my father and keep some hair on top till middle age. Unfortunately, my son cannot grow a beard, although some of you guys have said you had that problem till maybe you were into your 20s. That gives me hope. He's also 120 lbs. soaking wet! I'm hoping his face and body will fill out as he gets older (he has no interest in eating more). Are you still taking Propecia? Did it help at all?

Your experience with your own hair loss gives you a unique perspective with regards to your son's hair loss. As I've said many times, people who do not suffer from hair loss (or have the most minimal hair loss) cannot begin to comprehend the devastation that hair loss causes on a person and how it can negatively influence a person's life. They're the ones who spout the supposedly wise cliches like "you are not your hair" or "it's about what is inside that counts". But since you are experiencing hair loss, you know what it feels like and you can truly empathize with your son. Unfortunately even people who I love the most in life still do not understand how devastating hair loss can be (no matter how many times I try to explain it), simply because they never experienced it for themselves.

The one thing that I do have going for me though is that I am a big guy and have been for a long time. I've been lifting weights for many years so in theory, I could pull off the shaved head, bad-*** look, so to speak. But I just cannot bring myself to do it because I've seen first hand guys who did shave their head or got rid of their wig and wound up looking so much uglier. With regards to your son though, his face and body could still fill out. I've seen growth spurts happen relatively later on in life. Two guys that I know hit growth spurts after they graduated high school.

And yes, Propecia did help me but unfortunately I could not stay on it because of the side effects. But your son should try it because although some people do experience side effects (and I think many more than the statistics indicates), many other people do not and it could really help in saving your son's hair.

Can't you get your son on finasteride? It's my number one regret in life not taking finasteride when I could have. Even if the side effects are more like 25% than 5%, you still have a 75% chance of keeping your hair with no side effects.

The problem is, the side effects can be permanent.

He took finasteride for about 18 months (from age 18 1/2 to 20), with no decrease in shedding or thinning. He decided to stop using it this past summer but has since changed his mind, so he's going to start again on Christmas break. He didn't experience any sides. He's not interested in dutasteride or minoxidil. I'm hoping he'll be one of the lucky ones like Fred who can have a successful hair transplant someday.

If you think that Ronda would ever touch a man who couldn't fight then you've probably never heard of her.

That said, the guys she dates tend not to be the greatest fighters. She should try and get on Rockhold, he's going to beat Chris by decision on Saturday, is handsome and is famous for packing heat.

Join a MMA gym. You'll never be in the UFC but you can be almost superhuman to the average man. It can do wonders for your confidence.

Wish make up didn't exist, so we can properly gauge and assess women. Any women with a symmetrical facial structure can look like a godess with the right application of make.

Ronda Rousey is really unattractive... and I'm not just referring to her physical appearance.
