hey

welcome dude ive been here for months man! and im starting to see more hairs on my keyboard and i still cant get onto minoxidil and finasteride. Even though ive been told many times that it goes (sides) after you stop and assured its a small number off people that get it. I have a great connection for proscar mate is a pharmisit. BUT i dont know why i cant do it. There is alot of support here so hopefully you get the info your looking for.

Think about it...For the sides to be permanent doesn't that also mean your hairgain should be permanent too?

im on it for 3 1/2 month... no sides.
Wouldnt lissen to the guys taking finasteride just for a while.. and alsow using AD medication combined.
Off course they are going to make finasteride sound like taking the devil pill if it didnt work for them.. they are mad as hell that its working for us others :D
And the other guys on AD medication maibe feeling sides even on sugar pills... or maibe they should look at the sides on their AD medication....

I'm on fincar for 3 months now and went through the same motions as you did deliberating on whether or not to go on meds or not. When i first found this forum i swore not to go on them but there is only so much you can do without meds to save your hair.

Its down to you, you have to weigh up the odds, don't expect not to get sides, i think the majority of people will get sides, maybe not in the first 3 months, or even the first year but eventually they will. My libido took a dive after the first month, i've decided to ride it out (excuse the pun) becuase in my opinion I would rather do something about my hairloss than just sit back and do nothing or use a non-med treatment plan that doesn't have much success anywhere.

Its down to you to decide, you can always try it and if the sides are too much for you to deal with then get off it...

I'm just trying to give the kid a realistic point of view. I've heard of people getting sides at the 3 year mark or similar. But hey i'm not going to pretend to be an expert, we'll say that there is a chance of getting sides and leave it at that. I have no proof of how many people do but then again i don't think you have any proof on how many don't. I'm not wanting an arguement, i'm all for meds but be prepared thats all i'm saying.

Look no one has facts, what i'm basing my advice on is the number of posts we have in the dealing with sides category.

Seems your looking for an arguement. I'll retract my statement and say there is a likelihood of getting sides and leave it at that.

Oh and have a read of this post.

Sorry, but you are wrong again. I've read many studies that have been posted here before. Things are not nearly the mystery you make them out to be...try searching the forum a bit more. The link you posted has little or nothing to do with the subject at hand. I'm not "looking for an argument"... you are needlessly scaring the original poster and other readers with your inaccuracies.

From Drugstore.com - Propecia side effects

Side effects with Propecia have been reported by fewer than one in 50 (2%) men treated. Side effects may include decreased sex drive, impotence, swollen or tender breasts and decreased volume of ejaculate. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience any rare side effects such as a skin rash, hives or swelling of the face or lips.

Children or women should not use Propecia. Women who are pregnant or those who may become pregnant should not take or handle this drug because there is a risk of birth defects in male babies.

2% of all users of propecia experienced any side effects at all. Me included for 8 years and still going.

Hope that helps.

I was 22 when I started, I'm almost 31 now. I've never experienced any bad side effects from it at all. I was a lucky one. I'm not saying that I don't think that people do have bad sides, but the chances are very low. The thing with finasteride is that we have to realize is that eventually things do get worse. (check out my story) But at least this prolongs the whole balding process for us so we don't look like Kojak by the time we're 25.

The list of drugs with negligible side effects approved by the FDA only to later be recalled are fairly long. Otherwise, limited clinical studies will never begin to represent real-world global drug administration. That being said, I'd also imagine that there's a far greater chance of sides for a person who self-medicates, as opposed to someone under a doctor's supervision. Playing around with hormones is serious business without a proper test. And everyone also has different body chemistry and pharmacogenetics, making them react differently to different medications.

I had fairly serious sides, such as gyno and soft erections etc., and eventually stopped taking finasteride. Reducing the dosage helped enough. But I got tired of wondering whether the benefits were worth the risks. My hair just isn't worth as much as my physical and sexual health and well-being. YMMV.

well i think a 5 year trial is good enough + i have talked to people that has used it for 10 year +
and yes the 5 years study is always from 1.8%-2.2% with sides.
And it alsow showed that those on placebo alsow had a 1.3 % with sides.
So at my point.. sides are very rare.. and many that think they got sides from propecia... did actualy just think it (imagine it) or got it from some other reason.
GL and get on dht blocker or loose the batle.
