And trust me, some guys are experts at this, some of them will even manage turn a girl's qualities into flaws.

I'm sure you've met many of guys who will find "flaws" in all the girls that are into them, often as an excuse to not approach her or out of misplaced narcissism.

Usually a below average male that has an inflated view of themselves will realize fairly quick that they are misguided when they get no matches on tinder or get rejected by fat girls. Or that's what I would have thought.

Unfortunately, I think guys like my girlfriend's brother still believe that.

Girls very rarely ask guys out, because 99.9% of the time, they won't have to. Guys are expected to take all the risk and if they're not stupid and scared to death for no reason, they will.

So there's no reason that a girl will ever put herself in a situation where she could be rejected. Guys ask girls out, it's supposed to be common knowledge, except for hardcore feminists who wish that the world was how they want it to be.

The most a girl will do is to give signs, often very subtle to the point that a flat-out rejection will not be possible.

Smiling, talking to a guy, laughing at his jokes, giving him compliments, touching him lightly and playfully, etc.

After that, as a man, you need to escalate, you need to ask her out for something to happen.

All good points especially about hints being somewhat subtle (hell half the time for me there are literally no hints until I've invested a decent amount of time chatting) but I'm still a pussy when it comes to asking someone out. I pretty much push and exhaust all forms of flirting to it's near death, and only then when it's 95% or more guaranteed will I take the "risk" of asking for a date or number etc. I'd also never just flat out ask for a date, it would have to be something relevant to her interest or what we're talking about, and I'd just happen to be coming along with her or something (sad, I know, but we all have our little habits) though it does reduce the pressure on both of us.

Also as a plus, from there if rejection does occur (which I deal with very badly) at least I can live with the fairly genuine cope that if this girl talked to one guy alone for an hour or 2, flirtily insinuating all sorts of filth, and was never interested- surely she's a bit f*****g odd. To say the least.

Women have been using a similar strategy to look better for years. Ever notice in every group of hot girls there is always one of the girls that doesn't really fit in? A bad looking girl can easily result in the other girls moving up a point or two. Sad thing is usually these girls are left for the wingmen(us) to slay.
