thanks for the post MB.

See guys, told you it was the smell.

Nizoral is not just an anti-androgen. It also has other growth properties, which I guess over power the anti-androgen part on body hair.

I already have white curcumin for 5ar inhibition. I just want some back ups. Maybe I'll put the licorice in my shampoo and not use it as a topical. I know what it smells like. Black licorice.

Michael Barry,

I am interested in also incorporating this pepermint topical into my regimen, BUT...

oil and water dont mix, wouldnt the peppermint oil just float on top of the purified water?

Also Michael do you apply Prox-N to your enitre scalp or just hairline?

a very tiny amount will mix. Enough to give water flavor. But that 50:1 business tells me something else is going on.

Blaze,

My peppermint oil is mixed with water inside an old hairspray pump. I shake it up before I spray it. Its tingling like all hell right now as I just put it in for the day---stinging slightly. I wondered about it mixing too, but it sure seems to.

If the oils were unmixable, I suppose we could buy the extracts to mix anway, but Ive had success with the oils thusfar.

Mumuka, thanks for the nice words, and I hope you are having success with the peppemint oil.

One note on licorice.....................its in some shampoos as Ive googled it and even found a couple of licorice-based shampoos. Thats another something, licorice extract or licorice oil (if there is such a thing), that would be great for someone to run a three or four month test on a patch of body hair with................

I have lots of body hair, and would love to run that test. I'm just worried about the smell. The price is right though.

mumuka,

How much peppermint oil are you adding to your tricomin?

If tricomin could hold peppermint oil without spoiling it then it should work well.

I hate to put unknowns into the same bottle with proven treatments. I prefer to make a separate topical. My face is read and has big pores. I'm really tempted to do the licorice. I'll scrub up my whole body and leave it on for 5 minutes. Probably won't do much though. I can leave stuff on my face longer, while I surf the web. I hope the smell is not too strong.

Care to explain what do you mean? You really think peppermint could spoil tricomin or the other way?

I don't "really think" it will spoil it. But it is very possible. I've seen lots of products change colors and do funky stuff when I put other things in them. If you put sugar in you minoxidil, the minoxidil will likely fall out of solution. Maybe you are safe with 2%. I'm just saying if I paid $48 for tricomin, and wanted the best results, I'd put the experimental stuff in a different bottle.

Interesting...

Michael: Did you use peppermint "essential oil" from a small bottle, or is there also somekind of regular peppermint oil (non-essential, whatever the difference may be)

Jkeezh,

Yes, a little bottle of peppermint oil that looks like a bottle of lavendar or tea tree oil. Only one ounce. I mix it at about a forty to fifty to one ratio with purified water (so a little goes a long way...............should last about a year for four bucks and some change). I figure Im using "enough" if I feel the real cooling senstation of the peppermint.

Licorice, according to the experimental results at the beginning of this thread, might be even more helpful...............but the smell might be kinda tough. Who knows, I hope someone tries it.

I think a cheap, effective, natural anti-androgenic topical to add to finasteride and prox-n for men's regimines would deliver about the best, most effective (and cost-effective) regime available to men until cloning or Follica's wound-healing protocol or even ACELL's advances in regards to hair. I dont think we will come up with better trichotics that Proctor's, but have longed to find and extra topical anti-androgen to give finasteride that little extra oomph. I think we may have found it...................hope so anyway.

was a study before about oils like tea tree and lavender having feminising effects. best to check first.

Thanks for the info,

Btw: In a thread on hairsite the use of peppermint oil (and some other stuff) is mentioned to inhibit caspase-3 (to counteract the effect of alcohol). So peppermint oil could perphaps also be a caspase-3 inhibitor... Now I really don't know enough about all of this stuff so I could be wrong...

If you want to have a look, here is the link to the thread on hairsite.

I remember that. There was a study with three case studies of young boys who had experienced gyno while concurrently using products containing small quantities of tea tree or lavender oils. I don't think that it was conclusively proven that the tea tree or lavender oils caused the specific instances of gyno, but subsequent in vitro testing showed that these ingredients are weak endocrine disruptors.

thats what i get for reading the article and not hunting down the actual study. 3 boys only... doubtful it would have much if any effect on a grown mans virility then.

CCS: For the big nose pores I can really recommend Jojoba oil. I recently purchased a bottle of jojoba and apply it to my face in the morning, makes my face feel and look really good. It's really great stuff, and not greasy like other oils.

I am also going to try using the jojoba as a carrier oil for the peppermint and apply it to my hair, I think this should give better penetration then just water.,

Btw: Anyone know how they tested the effect of licorice and peppermint in this study???
