Yes, I did. After I shaved my head I noticed the entire top of my head was a lot thinner than every where else. To hide that I just shave the sides and back about half as short maybe shorter, As for Pametto, no. I really didnt like it. The capsoles were to big and bothered my throat.

Heres an update, July 8th 2013, I havent been using minoxidil to save money I still use 5% Kirkland foam. I also shaved a little of my hairline, it is relitively straight but most hairs are thin and weak looking making it look like im balding worse than without the hair period. Can anyone tell me what norwood this would be? A lot of charts I have seen seem to differ..Photo on 2013-07-09 at 21.11 #2.jpg

You (as in the general you) really need a side photo to show your temples in order to get an accurate Norwood scale judgement.

You have come a long way! Just have a look at what your hair looked like before you started the treatment!! Anyway from the pictures, your hair looks very thick! I would say Norwood 1.5 - 2 ??

Hi Arrowzepelin, damn that looks nice. Congratulations with gaining your hair again. Must feel great. ;)

I'm asking few questions to people who gained hair so fast as you did. I'm trying to figure out what could be the common element which helps the drugs to work better and faster. If you don't mind would you be nice to answer these questions:

1. Do you have dandruff and if yes then was it before or after you started minoxidil?
2. If yes to dandruff then how do you deal with the dandruff? Do you apply anything on the scalp, scrap it off or just leave it alone?

3. You said you took shower every day before applying Minoxidil but only use Nizoral 3 times pr day. What do you use the rest of the days on your head?
Now to some special questions that may irk you...so if you don't want to answer them then it's fine.
4. How's your sleeping rhythm? Do you get enough sleep? Do you stay up the night?
5. What about your eating habits? Do you eat healthy food or just fastfood most of the time? Do you miss out on any food times?
Last one is about exercising:
6. Do you exercise/train the body? If yes, how many times a week? Or do you just sit in front of the computer? If yes, how many hours a day?

I never had dandruff, when i wasnt using nizoral i just used what ever i had (head and shoulders, mane & tail, ect)
I usually get 6 1/2 - 7 hours a night starting at 11 on average. I work mornings at 7 or over nights for two weeks at a time.
I don't have a particular diet
I do a lot of jogging almost daily.

This photo is from today, I noticed when I cut my hair and it is concerning me how transparent the top of my scalp seems. SHould I be conserned at this point and maybe start propecia again? Ive been avoiding it due to student expenses.

Thanks a lot for answering. I'm beginning to see a pattern. Hopefully it will go again when the 3rd guy write his answers to my questions. Again thanks.

It looks like you are starting to loose some hair from my view. Like thinning on the top the area you marked. It seemed thicker on the previous picture. There's two options: Either you are shedding to get more hair, or the effect is wearing off. I don't think it's the latter but if you think it is then you should probably start propercia.

If you go with propercia then go to your doctor and tell her/him to give you generic finesteride. It's mostly on 5mg a pill and there should be about 100 pills in one pack. You take the pill and cut it into 4 pieces with a knife or pill cutter. That should keep you going for a year. The best thing about it is that it's damn cheap for students and you get more mg than with the expensive 1mg pills. I live in Denmark and use Sandoz Finesteride but I'm sure there's many other kinds to get in the country you live in. I hope the info helps. ;)

Thanks for the advice! I actually have a prescription I stopped taking it abut 8 months ago. The thinning I marked on top I only noticed recently and did notice a lot of hair falling out. However the last photo with hair this length was taken about 2 months after i stopped propecia.

I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but I usually only applied minoxidil to my hairline but as of late ive been using it a lot more throughout my scalp when im staying in

This could be a reason... ;)
After all you will shed on minoxidil (nearly 90% chance) so that may be the reason for the shedding since you are applying to a new area, mainly the area where the thinning appeared.

Nothing to do but to wait and see. :smoke:

Welcome back to finasteride, dude. True, you can never be too safe. Something I should have learned a long time ago. If I get the chance again, I'm not gonna forget ever.

A little question: What time of the day do you take propecia and is it the same as the time when you started on it?

I wonder if it there's a difference in the levels of DHT and the time people take it.

Before I was more focused on just my hairline and minoxidil so I only really took finasteride when I had the time. I only used minoxidil on my hairline as well. Recently I noticed my hairline was getting much stronger but where I didn't apply the minoxidil was getting thinner, which begain to happen after I stopped taking propecia. Now I usually take it in the morning between about 6-7 when i'm up for work. I also now use less minoxidil on my hairline and use smaller bits all over my scalp.

Thanks for telling, now to check out the theory I made. Hopefully it will work and when I get back in a few months, it will be with success and lots of hair. See ya.

Can you post a photo of your hairline from 5 years ago?

I am not doubting your results but the photo angles you take are awful and yield misleading results, in my opinion. If your results are real with such on and off again treating, then you are the exception, especially with such quick results.

Can you take a photo from 5 feet away straight on and from the side (or have someone do it)?

I dont have any photos from 5 years ago but I was 15 so I can only assume my hairline was perfect (I had really long hair). I didnt start losing until I was 17 from what I was able to tell. I think most of my results come from thickening and darkening vellus hair. The first picture makes it look worse than it was, I think anyways. Most of my hair at that point was just really thin, also the photo was very small and I had to enlarge that area. The only area I can say I actually have re growth is my hairline, the top of my head is still a little thinner like in that photo but with longer hair its harder to tell. I usually shave the sides and back which are thinner for the first month or so to help fade the look of the thinning area. Once I have access to a camera ill post more photos. (I used my parents camera and recently moved to another city for school)

**UPDATE**

I've been on 5% minoxidil foam now for 11 months and Propecia for 2 1/2 months. I noticed right away; this time, I began to shed within a couple weeks of taking the pill. It only stopped a few days ago. (That I can tell so far) Unlike the first time this shed has been awful. My hairline where I use Kirkland Minoxidil foam went undamaged but the top of my scalp between my hairline and crown shedded quite a bit to the point it was a little visible.
